The month started with going to the local Easter egg hunt. J is not a big fan of crowded events and gets into her "I don't want to do anything and I am scared" phase when there is too much commotion. The Easter bunny was there which she was petrified of, she wouldn't get her face painted, wanted nothing to do with the pony rides and we had to bribe her just to sit on the fire truck for a picture! All she waned to do was play on the playground. When the time came to line up for the egg hunt she was excited and then when they said go and all the kids made a dash for the eggs she broke down into tears and wouldn't go. I had to scoop her up and take her to an area (hence why there are no pictures!) where she could get some eggs. The egg hunt was a hot mess (I could write a paragraph on all the things they did wrong) but at least she got a few eggs and enjoyed sitting under a tree (away from the people) opening them all up. At the end she did want to go to the petting zoo and see the baby goats for a little while.
We traveled to Miami for Easter to spend time with the family. It was the first time all of the cousins were together, five kids four and under equals crazy! We BBQ'd and had an egg hunt that Saturday at G&G's house and then Sunday everyone headed to Aunt Boo and Uncle Mikey's house for Easter Brunch. The food was delish and the kids had a great time playing and hunting for the 100+ eggs that were in the yard! It's never a relaxing time with that many little ones but it was a great day to have everyone together and spend some quality family time!
The Monday after Easter we took the kids to Matheson Hammock to play at the beach. They built sand castles, looked for fish and shells (mommy did catch a hermit crab for them), attempted to fly a kite before it got stuck in the tree, and ate lots of cheese puffs! The double C's were probably the most obsessed with the cheese puffs and they didn't care if they were soggy and full of sand, they packed them away! Afterwards we went back to N&P's house where they had lunch, went for a swim and went naked in the hot tub! J enjoyed spending time and playing with her cousins, lots of chaos but lots of fun (and work!). By the time Tuesday came mommy was ready to board the plane to meet daddy in Chicago for a few days away where all we did was walk, eat and drink! The kids had fun with the grandparentals while we were gone and I'm sure had fun doing things we don't let them do (like eat ice cream in bed!).
Grandma and Grandpa surprised everyone (mommy knew but no one else) and came over for a weekend visit. While Daddy and Grandpa tackled putting some shelves up in the garage the girls took a morning trip to Hunsaders Farm to feed the animals and play. The farm is right up J's alley, not to crowded and she is in her "zone" there. She loves, loves, loves feeding the baby goats, we had to go back and get more corn after she ran out. She drug Grandma all over the petting area to see all of the animals, Grandma practiced saying the animals in Portuguese with her, but she kept going back to the baby goats, they are her size and right up her alley! We played on the playground and with the toys, she even raked and swept the sidewalk, my child always keeping busy! We had a nice outing and bought some produce to take home.
J is continuing to do very well in school. They are working on projects for their Art Show they will have later in the month. She is doing better at writing her name and has a story to tell every day when I pick her up. The first questions she asks me when we get in the car is if the cows are out and what are they doing. I think I said this before but she is crazy about the cows, especially the baby ones!
She loves watching The Voice with us and she loves Adam Levine! C has even started picking up Sugar and trying to sing it!
We are trying to tackle her zoo at home and how we can contain all of her stuffed animal/babies and get them out of her bed! If anyone has suggestions please pass along, the houses I made that I attached to the bed rails are not working. I counted and we are at 25+ things that sleep with her in her bed! As she would say, THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
