17 months

I find myself turning around many times during the week and can't believe what is coming out of C's mouth. This time what caught me off guard was her singing the ABC's while coloring and they were pretty clear too. Of course I went to tape her and she stopped, this is the best I could do with videoing it. After seeing she could count to 10, we started singing them at breakfast in the morning, she really wasn't into them after a few days (big sister screams them at the top of her lungs) and was constantly interrupting me to sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider, so we stopped singing them, I guess that was her well of telling me "I got this mom and know them"!

We are still working on the colors, she thinks everything is blue or green when you ask her what color something is. I don't think the colors are going to come as easy for her as counting and ABC's. She knows the difference between open/close and loves to bring you things to "open" so that she can "close" them, and she says open/close as the motion is being done. We've started working on counting to 10 in Portuguese and she is picking it up pretty well, if we practice by the time we get to Miami later in the month she will be a pro for G&G.

Her hair is long enough for some small piggy tails now, she likes when I do her hair and asks for a bow! She is in all 18 month clothes now and I love seeing her in some of my favorite outfits from J. One day C you will get your own set of clothes (she does have a few new outfits that are hers). We have a little Cookie Monster on hand, no matter what time of the day it is, after every meal (or during the meal) this kid asks for a cookie and points to the kitchen pantry. How can I resist her face and cuteness when she asks, I do at breakfast but can't resist at lunch or dinner (unless she has not eaten and thrown her food on the floor!).

C got to have some quality alone time with mommy and daddy a few Fridays when J was at camp. Fourth of July Friday when daddy was off we took her to play at the mall and out to lunch. When we first started going to the play place she wouldn't do much, now she is all over the place and going down the small slide by herself, what a difference six months makes. I've also taken the kids twice to the bounce place to exert some energy. The first visit C wasn't a fan of the inflatables and all she wanted to do was play in the house. The second time she was a little more interested but still no sliding or climbing, she just wanted to sit inside of them and watch J.

C's been my little running/walking buddy while J has been at camp. She's been a trooper (in this heat, mommy broke down and bought her a fan for the stroller) though four miles a day, give her a wubby, snack and some water and she is good to go! A few days she even slipped in a little morning snooze. 5K training stats when J goes back to school, C better be ready! The last month the weather has been brutal, rainy and hot (everyone in Texas complain about the heat and 100 degree temps, that ain't nothing compared to the Florida heat AND humidity).

The month ended with a trip to Miami to help Nana and Pop Pop pack up the house for their move to the west coast and welcome the newest member to our family on August 1, baby B. C's been demoted from the baby to the big girl now, and that she is, too big for her britches just like her sister.

Here are the pictures from the month.
