18 months

We  spent another week in Miami, packing up and helping Nana and Pop Pop. The girls spent a good amount of time with Daddy and Grandpa while everyone else was busy. C really enjoys Grandpa's BBQ's and goes to town on the steak, true Brasilian! She finally got to meet her new cousin when they came home from the hospital, she loved meeting him and kept wanting to try and get him from Uncle Mikey! Sooner or later he will become their real life baby doll, he better be ready!

She had her 18 month check-up this month. She is up to 24.4 pounds and grew almost two inches since her 15 month visit, she is in the 85th percentile for height, I could tell both of the kids had sprouted the last month. She had to get one shot (her last until she is four except for the yearly flu) and took it like a champ, this kid is pretty tough! She got a sticker for being a big girl and mommy gave her some M&M's (who doesn't love those).

C is up to 12 teeth and looks like a jack-o-lantern since her incisors are missing. She is back to wanting to brush her teeth (with toothpaste now and many times throughout the day) and of course has to do it by herself on the stool just like J. It's a fight to let mommy brush them too but eventually she gives in (when she realizes I will just put the brush away).

She started her little tumbling/movement class this month to give us something to do one morning while J is in school. She was timid and shy the first class, let's see if she warms up! The first half of the class is spent doing movement, the second half, acro/tumbling which I think she is going to like better.

There are many free events in the community and we've just started trying some of them out to see what they are all about. A local church up the street puts on a play group one morning a week, it was nice, better than I thought it would be, lots of toys for the kids to play with and kept the occupied for over an hour. I also took C to story time at the library, she wasn't too interested in the stories, she kept getting up and walking around, she did however like the craft afterwards and gluing shapes to a piece of paper. After story time we spent over 30 minutes just in the library playing with the puzzles, another puzzle master in the making!

Someone has gotten over her fear of the bounce place and now I can't keep her off of the inflatables! Why did I encourage her to want to like them, only so that I could chase her around and get more exercise! The problem is she is too small and mommy has to go with her, the slide is pretty fast, even for me! I did let her try the slide herself (I held her by her arms and got her as far down as I could before letting her go) and she LOVED it and squealed with joy! A morning spent here + lunch at Chick-fil-A = a GOOD nap!

This month I've seen one of the biggest changes in C, she is acting more like a two year old than a one year old and growing up way to quickly (where is my time machine?). "No" is not her favorite word anymore when you ask her a question, she is finally starting to say "yes" and differentiate between yes and no when asked a question. She is trying to spell J's name (just from hearing J and I spell her name throughout the day) and for the most part has all the letters down, guess we should start working on her own name now. She is putting together 2-4 word sentences and really using her words, "let's go" and "sit down" are two of her favorite phrases (paired of course with a name, mostly J's in front). We've recently discovered (or do I want to say admitted to) that she is definitely the little instigator and nine times out of ten responsible for the fighting that is taking place, up until now we always thought it was J since she is older but oh no, the younger is ruling the roost pretty quickly (and keeping everyone very much on their toes)! Her look of innocence is not very innocent anymore, we are on to you!

Here are the pictures from the month.
