I've been a little preoccupied and have been neglecting by blog! I have all good reasons as to why and hope next week things calm down a little so I can get up to date. One reason is this thing, "a piece of dirt" that we bought as our 13 year anniversary gift to ourselves! Daddy is going to be working from home in his new job so that called for a bigger house with a dedicated office. I don't think these builders know what they are in for with me (I'm sure they've had worse). The girls love going to see the model and I think they think that our house will look exactly like the model, paint, furniture and all. I think they are going to be disappointed when they see we aren't getting everything from the model but we are getting some nice looking stuff, and I am finally getting my dream kitchen!
Today we had our design session, what an over whelming process that was, I'm glad we went and previewed the design center to see what we liked and could afford. I can't imagine having gone in today not knowing anything and seeing everything for the first time. We have spent many hours the last week fine tuning what we could afford to upgrade and what had to be cut. In the end we ended up spending a little bit more than we wanted but love our choices. I think we "blended"what we each liked (he more grey, me more beige/taupe) to create our perfect color palate. The girls will probably be disappointed when they don't see pink and purple!
We went with the wood look tile everywhere except for the bedrooms and master bath. We chose a greyish paint color to compliment what we picked, it does have some beige to it that will coordinate nice with everything. All cabinetry is white though out the house. The kitchen will have a white/grey/taupe (there are specs of gold and a light green) quartz counter top (the color is called Everest). The back splash was nixed, not sure I really want it now, I think it will take away from the beauty of the counter tops, maybe I will paint the area between the cabinets a color to make the quartz pop.
The bathrooms are where we compromised, I got my beige, he got his grey! I could have gone overboard in our master bath and really blew the budget but didn't! The master bath is on the left, matching floor and shower tile with accent and a simple beige quartz for the counter tops. The guest baths, on the right, will have the same quartz as the kitchen and a greyish/white tile (although if you step back you see some beige in it) in the tub.
I think everything is going to come together nicely, looking forward to breaking ground and the real fun starting! The new house is in running distance so you know I will be running by to check on the progress!
