67 months

We checked out a new indoor park Labor Day, not sure what we were thinking, it was raining, they had just opened and it was crowded! The girls had a good time for the hour we were there balancing, jumping and bouncing around from obstacle to obstacle. C spent a lot of time trying to get up the warped wall, she didn't want to cave and give up, she really has some determination when she puts her mind to something! Jumping off the platform though got to her, you would think peer pressure from her sister would get to her but both times she tried she shook her head and walked away, maybe next time!

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday with a special dinner at home, it was a Friday night and we had soccer bright and early the next day! The girls loved sharing their cards they made with him and being crazy with their "bongos". Mommy made a fancy scallop dinner, the girls tried the scallops but went to town on their shrimp, they are really into eating shrimp lately and without them being fried! After dinner we had chocolate cake that they helped me make and played a couple of games of tumble monkeys which they love.

Saturday are for soccer again! C is back to playing on her aged team and playing with a few friends, that makes it better since J has moved up and is on her own team. At this age they are still pretty much running around the field like banshees, well at least C is now knowing where the ball is! She does well in practice and listens well to her coaches, now if they could apply what they learn on the field! While it doesn't look like it she goes out there with heart and follows the ball everywhere it goes, she is intimidated to get into the middle of the pack and try and get the ball so she just stops (and looks for daises to pick)! I look at this time as "at least she is getting some exercise in" and if that is all she gets great, it would be great to get a goal...maybe one day!

Kindergarten is going well and she is adjusting to her new class and the 24 kids that are in it! I started volunteering in her class during center time on Tuesdays, while I don't work with her group she is happy that I am there and get to see her. She is in the top group in her class with two other kids who are reading as well as she is, she is the teachers helper and always has a story to tell about an "errand" she had to do that day. She is really liking math and is excited to do the "optional" homework that comes home so that she can earn an extra Gator Bait, she is all about Gator Baits just like her sister and tells us she has the most in the class! She was excited for her first after school club this quarter, she chose to do a sculpting club where they are using play doh, clay and other forms of media to create masterpieces, she is having fun and a new friend that she made is in the club too (unfortunately she was in her class but when they made a new Kinder class to help with the numbers she got moved out and C was upset). Progress reports came home mid quarter and she got all 3's, 4's, E's and very nice comments from her teacher. She took her first elementary school picture and couldn't wait to pick out the perfect dress to wear to school, these girls are all about their special schedule and which day each week they can wear a dress to school. We are all adjusting to her being in school ALL day and not having much downtime at home. She is coming home tired and has been going to bed pretty early, some days before dinner because she has melted down, we've had a lot of melt downs of late and while she is very smart and so good at school it has been the total opposite at home. It is going to be a long couple of months as most say it takes through the holidays to adjust to Kindergarden!

We've instituted a no TV rule Monday-Thursday for the girls, they weren't happy about this at first but it is forcing them to play and mostly together in the little time they have when they are home from school. They have been into making Rainbow Looms, we had to go and buy C her own since they were constantly fighting over J's,  and have turned the dining room table and playroom into their factories. C is still learning and gets frustrated easily when she can't make something, so that usually sends her into melt down mode and gets her a timeout in her room! They have also been big into playing dress-up this month and can't wait to change their clothes (and fight about which costume each is going to wear) when they get home from school.

Here are the pictures from the month.
