25 Months

This was J's last month of being an only child. I can't wait to see how she is going to be with her baby sister, when she finally decides to enter this world! While the months have been flying by, this monthly actually seemed rather long and Christmas seems like it was so long ago.

We celebrated Christmas Eve with F's family on the iPad exchanging gifts. J was excited to open her presents and didn't know with what to start playing! We had a nice dinner at home and then played Santa after we put J to bed. Christmas day was quiet, somber and fully of worry. After waking up and finding out that princess K was in the hospital we weren't really in the holiday cheer. J opened her presents via a quick Facetime with Nana and Pop Pop but the rest of the day was spent waiting for updates on K (who is now doing fine), we finally opened our presents days later when we caught J under the tree unwrapping them.

We spent the week after Christmas at home (mommy was off work and J was out of school) hanging out, nesting and relaxing. It was nice to have some down time, even with a 2 year old! NYE's and the start of the year was another somber event and hopefully with the way the year ended and stated  all bad is done for now! J got a little upset when her outside lights, inflatables and Christmas tree came down, I taught her to say "Christmas is OVER". She really enjoyed the lights during the holiday season and every night on our way home we had to take a drive around the block as she pointed out all of the lights to us.

We've attempted to start potty training but what looked like early success has turned into not wanting to go to the potty in the last few weeks. With the baby coming and the changes that we are going to have we'll try again in a month or two. Until then she gripes when she goes potty in her diaper/pull-up and wants to be changed IMMEDIATELY but refuses to go on the potty. Oh well, with everything else this kid does I can't get mad. The M&M container on the counter in the bathroom doesn't even do the trick, but she reminds mommy to take an M&M when I potty!

Her hair was getting out of control, I caved and we took her for her first haircut. She sat like a little angel on daddy's lap while she watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. And even though the tiniest amount of hair was taken off, it made a world of a difference! Why did I wait so long? With the hair 2.0 is projected to have I'm sure she'll have a haircut much sooner!

J got to go shopping for a present for her sister to bring to the hospital when she is born. She picked  out a small plush doll and a yellow/grey elephant receiving blankie for her. I can't wait to see the first time that they meet :) Someone also got introduced to a booster seat at the table, no more highchair for J.

On the vocabulary front the "why's" have started, and I love answering "because I said so!". She has also picked up to calling us mom and dad at times, she is too little not to call us mommy and daddy :( She is also more interested in signing these days but I can't get a good video as she stops when she is being recorded!

Swimming continues to go well and we will be starting a new class this week! She loves the water and after being off for two weeks over the holidays, she picked up right where she left off, actually she has better position in the water!

Here are the pictures from the month. Oh and this is how daddy brain washes her on the mornings mommy goes to work early!
