While it is an exciting time and we are waiting for the next chapter of our life to arrive Friday we had to close a chapter that has been part of our family life for the last 14 years. We said goodbye to our beloved Ginger but I know she is in a better place playing with her first sister Gretel and hanging out with my Gram. She was just as loyal as she was neurotic and I am glad that Miss J got to spend two years with her, but sad that #2 didn't get a chance to meet her. I think the hardest part has been J asking where she is and trying to explain to the two year old and then having to go to her doggy daycare and break the news to them, they are family to us here in Dallas and loved Ginger like one of their own dogs.
This has not only touched us here in Dallas but I know our family back in FL is saddened, she touched us all over her 14 years and gave us all great memories. And while I have to erase the actual text messages from my phone, so that I stop reading them and crying, these messages are appricated:
- Sorry about Ginny, she was a great companion for you and all of us. From what you said she had, Ginny is better off not suffering. Think of all the good memories you had with her, I have been thinking of the memories since Mom told me.
- I'm so sorry. I loved her a lot. Thinking about you.
- That's so sad! She's in a better place now and hanging out with gretel...she gave us all a good 14 years!
- Ginny was one of a kind. She will be happily remembered and sadly missed. I smile remembering the day we got her. Uncle Danny and Gram will take great care of her! Like those we love, we never want to loose them first. You and F were good to her and remember how much she loved J for her goldfish in her golden years! Saying prayers for her on her journey to heaven. Love you guys!
- So very sad but she is reunited in doggy heaven with Gretel. God planned this for you to say goodbye to her at a time when you will be saying hello to #2. She was a great dog and we will all miss her. I'm sorry.
- I'm so sorry you're going thru this. Dad and I keep remembering moments with her.How she always waited for you to go to bed and would follow you down the hall. She was a sweet barkie lil dog :). Gram loved her too.
