Third year in the books

Part of me feels bad that I didn't go all out for J's birthday this year but there is just too much going on these days and her birthday sort of snuck up on me. Friday we had a cupcake party at school during snack time. Last year there weren't many kids at school on her actual birthday (most were gone for the Thanksgiving holiday) so we celebrated early so that mostly everyone was there. Once again we made princess cupcakes, with neon pink icing. The kids in her class love when parents come to visit and I was bombarded with two and three year olds in my lap. The kids sang happy birthday to J (she was shy and timid and doesn't like to be the center of attention) and then had their cupcake snack. They were all excited for the cupcakes and had icing all over their faces, sorry other parents for the sugar intake!

Tuesday was her birthday and both mommy and daddy took the day off from work to spend a special day with J. We video chatted with Grandma and Grandpa early in the morning and J got to open her presents, lots of Play-doh which will be saved for Grandma's visit next week! We then got dressed (we were running late since Miss C was up pretty much of the night and we didn't sleep), took Miss C to school and went to the pancake place (J's request for birthday breakfast) before heading to the Perot Museum. We spent a few hours checking the museum out, I still think it is too old for a three year old and wish we would have taken her to the aquarium instead. We spend most of out time in the kids part letting her play and do arts and crafts, at least the kids part wasn't full of field trips and kids at camp, and she had fun. She didn't want to go but we got a call that Miss C's fever was back and we had to head and pick her up, not before a stop at Society Bakery for some birthday cupcakes.

Daddy spend the afternoon with C while mommy and J ran some errands which included visiting the ducks and throwing pennies into the pond at the mall. When we got home, daddy was now not feeling well and while he and C headed to the doctor to get checked out, we video chated with everyone so that J could open her presents. Too say the afternoon and evening was chaotic is an understatement.

Mommy and J had some dinner when daddy and C got home (they didn't eat much since they were not feeling well). Then we sang and had our cupcakes (she did not want a candle) and played with all the new toys the rest of the night. It wasn't a perfect birthday and if she was a little older she probably would have been disappointed! Oh well, next year I promise to make it up to you!

In all this was a big year for J, she became a big sister and had to learn to share her mommy and daddy with C bear (which she adjusted to very well) and was completely potty trained before she turned three (thanks mostly to Nana and Grandma for pee pee training when she was in Miami this summer). To the start of her chapter 5 (and mommy promises to give you a FANTASTIC birthday next year!).

Here are the few pics I took of her birthday.
