Mother's Day weekend we celebrated with trying out a new place for lunch on Saturday. The girls love to get dressed up (and wear their dresses) and love to go out to eat, for the most part they are very good when we go out. We all liked the new place and since we sat by the open window C had to wear her sunglasses! Sunday we went for a morning walk/run to the hardware store and sat in the many Adirondack chairs they have, I think we tested them all out. Later that day Nana and Pop Pop came over, we swam and had a wonderful seafood dinner. This was our first swim of the season and C did great in her puddle jumper, she loved being thrown through the air like her sister and is fearless.
This little girl is another smarty pants. I did a little Q&A with her one night after dinner and just asked her questions to see how much she would talk and what she would tell me. She knows she is two, that her sister is four, her favorite color is purple, she likes broccoli (must have liked it that week) and pasta, loves Mickey and she told me I could be Donald. This must have been taken before her "Frozen Fever" kicked in as she did not say her middle name is "Elsa", which she now does.
Speaking of Frozen Fever she totally has it! This was about the same age that J got into it, only this time it's a little more intense. She has deemed her middle name to be "Elsa" and when you call her using her middle name she corrects you and says no it's 'C Elsa", this kid, yes your highness! There was a day I think we had to watch the movie like three times. I got her a little Elsa dress which she loves and constantly wants to wear, I see her wanting to wear it to Disney later this year when it is cooler. "Let It Go" and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" are on repeat on my phone and she loves to sing to them, of course I try to video her and she stops but I got some footage.
Her tempers and fits have been a little better this month, I think she has finally gotten that if she doesn't behave there will be consequences. She did pitch a fit one afternoon, over what I don't remember, in the kitchen and my camera happened to be right there on the counter so I sat on the floor and snapped away. After a few minutes it turned to a "fake fit" and then she started laughing at me, another drama queen.
I think we set a good example for the girls in eating healthy and exercising. They both love to "step" with us and count their steps, when my steps are low for the day and I am doing kitchen laps at night to meet my goal they step with me. I happened to catch C walking circles around the kitchen with her arm in the air, then I noticed she was pretending the bracelet on her arm was her Fitbit and she was mimicking me and doing her laps, silly kid! They both love to go with me to run errands and always have their lists ready to go. C knows exactly which diapers we need and can differentiate what comes from Publix, Walmart and CVS (and recognizes their logos on receipts now too).
C got a little taste of what it will be like to go to school this Fall. We helped out one day during lunch time in J's class, C got to take a lunch box and eat her food at the table just like the other kids. I haven't been really good at home about letting her eat out of the highchair or drink from a non-lidded cup, I need to "let some things go" and let her grow up, school will definitely help with this in a few months.
The month couldn't go by with out a trip to Disney, we took Nana
for a belated Mother's Day celebration, C was so excited to go and talked about meeting Mickey and Elsa. She got to pick out the fabric for this trips themed shirts and asked me every day to wear her Elsa shirt, when the morning came to go and she got to wear it she was so excited! She was extremely into the characters and had a hard time waiting her turn in line to meet them, she just wanted to run right up to them. For being so little she is pretty brave, braver than her sister, she was the one in front most of the time. She really loved the princess lunch and LOVED Princess Aurora, I think she would have gone home with her had she been given the chance. She was mesmerized when she saw Elsa (and of course tried to run right up to her) and could not take her eyes off of her, I wish I knew what that little brain of hers was thinking, her wheels were definitely turning, you could tell by the look on her face. Despite some rain we had
two wonderful FULL days with Nana, we packed lots in and made many
memories (and tired everyone out).
We spent Memorial Day in Miami hanging out. There was lots of swimming and eating, seems to be what we do there, who doesn't want some of Grandpa's BBQ. The girls enjoyed going to the park with Grandma to feed the ducks, they especially loved the baby ducks. C mimics everything J does, they happened to be "skinny dipping" and J went to the grass to potty, C followed her and pretended to potty. They made a game out of this and after about 10 runs to the grass C finally peed. Then J went inside to continue her business in "privacy" and C said she had to as well. Not believing she had to I told her to go in the grass and the next thing we knew, "plop" into the grass, maybe this will kick start potty training!
The month ended with swimming lessons which were a flop. Not in the sense that she didn't learn how to swim but that I had to pay to teach my own kid to swim! She has had some pretty noticeable mommyitis lately and wanted nothing to do with the swim instructor (or even her daddy on certain days), I hope she does better when she starts school in August! She is at the early stages of learning how to swim and I am so proud of the little fish she is already. Lots of practice (rain, rain, stay away) this summer and she will be a mermaid.
This kid loves to be tickled and kissed, if you stop she tells you to do more!
