53 months

The month started with a trip to Disney World! Grandma and Grandpa were here for the week, I couldn't think of anything better to do than go and see the Mouse and celebrate Mommy and Grandma's birthdays. J was excited and had her list of things she wanted to do, she was disappointed she didn't get to ride the Mine Train but quickly forgot about it when she got to ride the Barnstormer with G&G. We packed a lot into one day and wore the girls out with rides and shows. She loved watching the parade (probably her favorite thing of the day), she screamed in excitement as each float passed and narrated it for her sister who was seeing it for the first time. She got two new charms for her necklace and was happy that C got a charm necklace as well so that they can pick out a new charm "together" when we visit.

G&G were with us for a week, mommy and daddy got to escape for the weekend to celebrate mommy's birthday. We enjoyed some quiet time while the girls were being spoiled at home. The girls love red meat, especially when Grandpa makes it, it's the first thing they ask him to make and chow down! J made her first birthday card for me, she wrote it all out and drew a picture of pizza and flowers for me.

I had J's school conference with her teacher, she's had a great year, I got to see some of her work comparisons from the beginning of the year and the present time, was told she is a little smarty pants (we knew that), and really just got to enjoy talking to her teacher without the kids around. They ended the school year doing lots of fun things, they had splash and movie day, they learned about space and made a rocket (and each kid had to make a top for the rocket), worked on Mother's Day presents, made butter, grew plants, learned about community helpers and so many other neat things. J's teacher organized a Mom's breakfast for Mother's Day, J was so excited for me to come to her class. The kids all served their moms fruit, muffins and donuts, they sang two little songs, gave us our gifts and then J's teacher had fun reading the "About My Mom" sheets aloud. All of us moms belly laughed at most of the answers, J did pretty good answering questions about me except she said I'm 2,014 years old! I hope that next year when C is in school that I can help some in their classes.

We celebrated Mother's Day with a morning stroll to Ace to get a grill brush for daddy. The girls were great with a 4.5 mile round trip walk, mommy got to break in my new sneakers. Later that day Nana and Pop Pop came over and we had our first swim in the pool this season (I caved and turned the heat on!).  The girls loved playing/swimming and J picked up where she left off last year just like a little fish. I'm sure by the end of summer they will be prunes!

There are days that I feel that I am in a concert hall. Both of the girls LOVE to sing and boy have they been lately. They are stuck on Frozen and Sleeping Beauty songs and fight over which to sing. They sing while they eat, while they color, in the car, in the bath (when daddy isn't yelling at them), I'm surprised they don't sing in their sleep. I really wish they would have inherited some musical talent, Aunt Fonz has offered to give them voice lessons via the iPad, might just have to take her up on it! My retirement is definitely not coming from them winning a million dollars on America's Got Talent!

Soccer continued and ended this month. Team Pink (J and the other girl on the team) was all smiles the rest of the season as long as they had their pink shorts on! Thank goodness we had no other meltdowns and she was happy to go each week. She did really well with the little drills they did, her favorite play is the "Roll and Cut" which she said she learned from watching Dora (oh the iPad at rest time). She was one of the better listeners on the team even with daddy coaching her, daddy might have found himself a second career as her soccer coach so that she listens! She did pretty good in the games and at least went in the right direction. After an 0-2 start they finally won a game and in the fourth game J scored her first goal, I don't think she knew what she was doing but the ball went in the net (even though mommy thought she was kicking a dead ball because it had been touched). She got her first trophy the last day and I think her team finished in sixth place, daddy has a challenge for next season!

Coloring and drawing continue to be one of her favorite activities. I've really noticed this month that she is doing much better with coloring in the lines. She surprised me when she showed me the Care Bear picture she did. She is also putting thought into what colors she uses and is now making things their "correct" color and not just a random color. She has been starting to practice drawing a Mickey head and also has been trying to draw Flounder (Ariel's fish) from the drawing book she got at Easter. To see her family portrait she did at the beginning of the school year and the one I was shown at the teacher's conference was an amazing difference. She is growing up.

The girls got into watching the horse races with us this month, of course J cheered for the pink horse, go figure!

We took a second trip back to Disney this month, this time we took Nana for a belated Mother's Day celebration. The girls were excited to show Nana Disney, she told them she had never been and that they needed to show her, of course J thinks she knows everything about Disney and jumped right in being a tour guide. J did so much better with the characters this time and even worked up the courage to see Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. She loved having lunch with and meeting the princesses, she told them all stories and talked their ear off. She is already looking forward to going back for her birthday to eat breakfast with them (what she told me she wanted to do). Despite some rain we had two wonderful FULL days with Nana, we packed lots in and made many memories (and tired everyone out). Oh, and I lost my partner for the Mine Train, after riding it once she wouldn't go again and wouldn't tell me why other than it "hurts her knees"...hoping she gets over this as mommy likes the ride!

Here are the pictures from the month (Disney pics are in the two separate posts).
