57 months

It seems as if the months have gotten busier and we are on the go more. We started the month with Meet the Teacher at the girls school. We were so excited this summer when we learned J's three year old teacher would be moving up to teach VPK this year, J had such a great year with and we put in our request to have her again, which we are lucky to have! Meet the teacher morning was crazy (I was having to go back and forth between two classes) but J was excited to learn that most of her friends from last year were in her class, they got five new kids to round the class out. They are in the same classroom but it was rearranged and new toys/learning stations brought in. We were given our first homework assignment to complete (I don't think she will ever forget me putting vinegar in her mouth for biting!), that would be turned into a place mat for lunch, and learned about the exciting things they would be doing this year. I was on information overload when we left!

Daddy traveled this month and when he got back we surprised the girls with a quick trip to Disney the Friday before school started, they were excited that we were sleeping over in a hotel. We had some nice family time and got to see the Electrical Parade one last time before it ended. We also got to stay for our first Wishes Fireworks show which J loved as long as she had her "ear muffins" on. Not sure why I didn't think of it sooner to buy these for her, money well spent!

School (VPK) got off to a great start and the first month seemed to fly by, we did miss two days thanks to Hurricane Hermine. J settled easily in to her new class and routine, to her it was like school never ended, she adjusts pretty well to things now, especially if there is some familiarity to her. Every day she has been excited to come home and tell us about her day. I am really excited for what her teacher has planned and what they have already done in a short month. Her teacher switched up the classroom jobs this year and J picked being the calendar helper as her first job. They are counting down the first 100 days of school (and she couldn't wait to tell me about their 100 day party) and learning to write their numbers, she got to write the first seven numbers on their countdown chart, she was VERY excited to show me how well she wrote her numbers. Every Tuesday they are visiting the school resource room/library to check out a book for the week to bring home, then on Fridays during Show & Share they have to tell the class about their book and on Monday's they are journaling about their book. They had their second homework assignment and had to make an airplane for their "Around the World" theme they did with the other VPK class. Mommy passed this project off to daddy and he and J built a pink plane (would you expect less)! The class worked on their first group project and J's group was tasked with making a habitat for a polar bear, she took in a box of tissues to make "snow". The class was divided into three groups, each got a different bear habitat, I was pretty impressed with what these 4-5 year olds came up with, the teacher said they all did a great job working in teams. I'm looking forward to what they do this next month.

This kid loves all things artsy and had a great time at the Home Depot Kids Workshop making a dry erase board (and a wagon while we waited for paint to dry) with daddy, mommy went to document the trip. With some help she is doing pretty good using a hammer and pounding in nails, soon she will we ready to work around the house!

I caught her sitting at the table writing notes to her magic clip dolls one day, she reminded me of Jimmy Fallon writing his thank you notes, I about cracked up when I saw what she was doing and of course had to get it on tape, maybe I should send to him? I've really seen her using her imagination more to make up songs, play with random things and create art (her puppet theater canvas that is hanging in the kitchen) of late, her wheels do not stop turning and she just keeps going.

Football is finally back and someone is excited to wear her cheerleader uniform and cheer for the Canes. She has gotten back into watching Game Day with daddy, loves picking the team and seeing who Corso will put on each week, what amuses an almost five year old. She gets upset if he doesn't put on the head she picked and thinks she lost! We are working on perfecting her "U" she can't seem to keep her fingers closed.

At the rate we are going the month wouldn't have been complete without a second trip to Disney, boy are we spoiling these kids, they are only little once so what the heck! We actually didn't step foot in the Magic Kingdom this time, we went to Epcot and then spent the next day (with 27 friends) at the pool and Mickey's Backyard BBQ. J was excited to use her new autograph book mommy made and had to pick the perfect color and picture for each character to sign, I'm glad I made ones that we can insert more sheets into, just in two days they filled up half of the pages I put in them!

Here are the pictures from the month.
