Both girls finally started school today. Public schools have been back for over two weeks now and I thought this day would never come! To gear up for school J got a new 5T wardrobe and grandma took the girls shopping for new lunchboxes and sneakers! We went to meet the teacher last week, J is in the same room and has the same teacher (Ms. Dianne) and some friends from last year so the transition to VPK should be a breeze, except for having to get up every day now and rush out the door! C is in the classroom next to J's and we got to meet her teacher for the first time (Ms. Kristi), she saw her room, met a few friends (there are five in her class for now), and played with some toys. C will be going to school Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and she is very excited to play on the playground!
This morning went off without a hitch at home. Both girls woke up in great moods, got dressed in their new Peppa Pig shirts Aunt Boo bought them, they picked out their hair styles and had a photo shoot all before breakfast. They chose cereal (mommy bought them Fruit Loops for a treat) and fruit as their first day breakfast of champions! Daddy got to work from home today so we all piled in mommy's new minivan (with all their school supplies and crap we had to take for the first day) and away we went with lots of chattering in the car!
School this morning was NUTS! We deposited J in her classroom first since we knew that would be easy. She put away her lunch, snack and water bottle, we hung up her bag and dropped her school supplies. After a quick hug and kiss we said bye and got out of the crazy in her room, to J it was like school never ended. While I turned in papers and other things to the office daddy took C to her room and got her settled playing with play-doh at the table. She looked too little to be sitting at the table going to school, she is growing up to fast! After talking to her teacher and getting her things organized we gave her kisses and said goodbye. At first she didn't realize we were leaving but once she realized we had left the class (and were walking down the hall) she started crying, I knew she'd eventually be fine, or they'd be calling me to come and get her! We drove home in silence, daddy worked from home and mommy went to breakfast with some fellow moms, I have to admit when I got home and the house was quiet it was kind of eerie, the quietness is going to be nice but strange at the same time.
C got picked up first and was so happy to see us! Her teacher said that she was a little sad until snack time but then had fun playing, swinging, painting, and eating! She did a good job eating her first lunch at school like a big girl, her teacher said the kids ate pretty much the whole day and grazed on their food, if it kept them happy why not! She brought home a cute little poem with her hand print she made, time to start a bin full of her art! J had a great day and I think was more excited to see C than us and see how she did. She did tell me that she heard C crying in her room, such a sweet sister! It was strange telling Ms. Dianne "see you tomorrow" instead of Wednesday, five days of school is going to take some getting used too!
I taped the girls telling about their first day, I got as much as I could out of them, I'm sure they will tell more later today.
