School is going great and J is learning so much! She loves telling me about her day and what she did, especially that she ate all of her lunch. We love her teacher and she is really doing some neat things with the class this year. The children are all very engaged that she is letting them be creative and self direct lessons on some of the days, I love that she lets them run free with their imaginations, I can tell the days this happens as J is a chatterbox when she comes home, her favorite thing to date is the fort they made and that they got to have class in there almost the entire day. They celebrated the daddy's with Donuts for Dad one morning, they made arts and crafts and sang a few songs, it was nice they got to do something special for them since Father's Day is during the summer. They planted their class earth box and are also growing some things in their class so that they can watch the growing process up close, their sweet potato has some serious roots! J's class went on their first field trip to the dairy farm (or stinky farm as J calls it!), it is a working dairy farm so we got to see the cows in action making some milk. The kids also got to make and eat some homemade butter, try some fresh milk, we went on a hay ride through the farm/cow pasture, watch a pig race and feed baby cows. It was a great field trip but daddy gets to go next time!
Grandma and Grandpa came for a weekend visit. There isn't a visit that goes by that the girls don't get (or expect) surprises, this time Grandma brought them something from their trip to Key West, beaded bracelets with their names and also matching house dresses, my little "old ladies". Grandpa got to attend Donuts with Dad at school while mommy and Grandma enjoyed some quiet time while everyone was out! We had a nice weekend visit and ended with a trip to Wolves Head, seems like the new norm.
We
missed another day from school thanks to another storm but took
advantage of the windy conditions for a few days and flew the kites that
have been sitting in the garage for a year! J did pretty good with her kite once we got it up from here but got bored after about five minutes and wanted to play on the playground, no patience! She has started helping C on the stepping posts at the park, it is really cute to watch her with C and be proud when she makes it to a new step, I love sitting, watching and listening to them.
Daddy and the girls took a quick trip to Miami to see "Go Canes" play. Saturday the girls got to hang out with G&G while daddy was at the game. They had some fun biking around the zoo seeing all of the animals. They got new pink hats since mommy forgot to pack them (as I was told by a certain four year old!). After the zoo they went to the Ale House for lunch and then had some BBQ (of course) for dinner! Sunday morning they were on the road bright and early so they could make it home to see their cousins.
Aunt Fonz and the twins came for a quick visit, the kids were so excited to see each other, but were most excited about getting to go to Disney together! We had a magical fun filled day at the Mouse's House making memories I will always remember (not sure if they will but the parents will). The kids enjoyed having slumber parties, hanging out in PJ's, destroying the playroom, making cards and celebrating daddy's birthday with pizza, cake and chaos!
We went to a local Fall Festival one Sunday morning when we were looking for something to do. We walked around, looked at the vendors and picked out our pumpkins, we got two medium size ones this year so that each of the girls could pick out a design. Each of the girls got to pick out one ride to go on, they both decided on their first pony ride but after getting on the pony J freaked out and started to cry, at least I got a picture before I pulled her off! She then chose the boats which she had fun maneuvering her way around the pool and was much happier.
J is very inquisitive, at times we don't think she is listening and can reiterate our entire conversation! She is really taking to the alphabet and constantly asking what letter things start with, she is also starting to sound out the first letter of words and call out letters on signs. Before we know it she is going to be reading...where has my baby gone?
Here are the pictures from the month.
