34 months

Every month I find myself going back to J's blog from when she was C's age to see what she was up to. Again I find myself writing that in less than two weeks (10 days to be exact) we will have a three year old. Where has three years gone? It seems that today was actually her due date and we were impatiently waiting her arrival, little did we know we would be waiting a LONG time! The last few months have brought a big girl to our family, we no longer have a baby let alone a toddler, she is definitely a big girl in every way and wants to be just like her sister (except for the wubbie we can't seem to part with). I was reflecting last night with some friends and showing them C's baby pictures, she never really looked "newbornish" and always has looked more mature for her age, not sure if it is the second kid syndrome or the extra cooking time she got but part of me wants my baby back (minus the diapers, bottles and heavy diaper bag) for just a while longer. At least she still lets me rock her at night. She is though starting to put on her own shoes (and surprisingly she is getting them on the right foot) and trying to dress herself, I find myself saying "tag in the back" on repeat in the morning!

C was more into Christmas this year and our elf but was still is not sure about Santa. While we had no tears there definitely was fear and she didn't want to be that close to him, she used her sister as a barrier. She eventually opened up and talked to him a bit but couldn't wait to get the pictures taken, get her gift and get out of the room! Hopefully next year we have a picture with two smiling girls! All she talked about leading up to Christmas was the Elsa doll she wanted but was happy with the Ariel doll she got as an early present from Santa.

We took a trip to Disney to celebrate J turning five. This was C's first time sleeping in a bed in the hotel, she did well sleeping on the pullout sofa all by herself, so nice to not have to travel with a pack and play anymore! We had a great four days with lots of memories made. C's favorite was probably when she met Elena, followed by Ariel who she got to meet twice. I love the look she gets when she sees the princesses and how she holds her little hands and acts all shy and innocent! She is still fearless and runs right up to them all, well except for Santa who she wanted nothing to do with again when we met him and Mrs. Claus in Epcot. She enjoyed shopping and spending her Mickey money and is already talking about what she is going to buy when we go back for her birthday!

School flew by this month with all the holiday excitement. C brought home lots of arts and crafts and some ornaments to hang on the tree. Mommy made skirts and bow ties for her class for the Christmas program and the little ones looked so cute, even through they sang not a note! C knew all of the songs and practiced at home (we all know how much she loves singing) but when the time came to stand on stage she (along with the rest of her class) was mute and they just wanted to shake their jingle bells, I guess that is better than crying! She is starting to work on cutting and is very into coloring lately and is trying to stay in the lines.

We had a great and blessed Christmas. Santa and our families were very generous to the girls and our house looked like it puked toys on December 26th. C was still a little slow at opening her gifts this year and J was a little impatient to see what was under the paper, she would shout out what it was before C could see for herself! I think C was most happy that she got her Northern Lights Elsa doll, I think her Elena guitar from her cousins was her second favorite gift. She goes around the house singing Elena's songs but when I try to get it on tape she stops! We celebrated Christmas later in the week with Aunt Boo, Uncle Mikey and B, they came to hang for a few days and the girls got to play with their cousin and their new fort from Uncle Mikey!

We check out a new place for lunch NYE and while it was nice to sit outside the food wasn't that good, oh well, we got some sun and got out of the house. We had a quiet New Years at home, daddy grilled some steaks and the girls were in bed way before midnight and I'm glad the fireworks didn't wake them up, mommy and daddy actually made it to watch the ball drop, one thing I like about living in Central time, celebrating an hour early with the east coast! When the girls are older I will have to tell them about Y2K and what we all thought would happen, that was 17 years ago and will be ancient by the time they can comprehend!

We tried to let the girls have a sleep over in J's room to see how C would do in a big girl bed but that didn't work well and within 20 minutes they were separated! We went and saw the manatees where they migrate for the winter a little north of us at a power plant. They were hard for the girls to see but there were about 15-20 of them hanging out, not as active as the ones we see in the aquarium. They did like checking the place out and seeing the butterfly garden and indoor exhibit area that had puzzles. It made for something different to do one day.

Here are the pictures from the month.
