35 months

C ended being two with a bang! To start the month she got to help pick out her big girl bed and mommy transformed her room into a mermaid room (or Ariel room as she calls it). We are still looking for a dresser to match and Aunt Fonz is working on her name letters,C was excited that she got to pick out her sheets! Along with the big girl bed also came the throwing away of her last wubbie. We kept telling her when her bed came it was going in the trash, and that's just what happened, there was no pulling it out this time and giving it back to her! She did better than I thought (after her tantrums a few months back) and only asked for it the first few days. She has though had a hard time falling asleep without it and doesn't want to be alone. Mommy is having to lay with her if I want her to take a nap and she is a toss up at night whether she can fall asleep by herself.

We spent a lot of time this month working on letter and number flash cards.  J started working on sight words at the table so someone else had to follow suit with "her cards". She knows all but 6 letters (F, N, S, T, V, Y) and can recognize numbers 1-8 (was trying to get to 10 before her birthday but that didn't happen). Her favorite letter is of course C, but she loves when the "U" comes up. She also recognized on her own that if you flip the letters "H" and "I" that they make the other letter, she loves to say "turn them around" when you show her the card. She does this with number 3 and 7 too, she sees the start of a heart in the three and the letter L in a seven, smart little cookie! They are still working on letters at school and are getting ready to start their numbers, she's way ahead of the game!

We also spent a lot of time this month picking strawberries and other veggies. It has become our little routine Thursday mornings while J is in school. She has to take a picture every time we go in the wood cutout, she's always in the same hat so the picture always looks the same. C is also eating strawberries again (I have to make sure she doesn't OD on them this year!) and think she eats more while picking than she actually picks! She is a good little broccoli spotter too and gets in the leaves to find bunches for me. She is also helping me pick tomatoes, spinach and cauliflower, if I could only get her to try the spinach! One Thursday we went after school so that J could come with us, Nana and Pop Pop did too, ice cream (and milkshakes) made a good after lunch snack!

We went and painted pottery one morning with a friend. I think C is still a little young for this but she had fun making a mess of her turtle, it is very colorful and had to have purple eyes (purple wasn't in the assigned color palette so we had to ask for some to please the princess)! The weather has been beautiful so we've been spending time outside, running and playing at the park. The girls love to take their stuffies and babies to swing and love to pretend to cook with the mulch, C has graduated to a big swing (see what you learn at school). J spent the night one night with Nana and Pop Pop so Miss C got to go on a date with mommy and daddy. She was a little lady and did well at dinner, she even got to dance on the sidewalk with daddy! After dinner we walked down to the ice cream shop and she got a scoop of chocolate which she ate all by herself and would not share!

She helped me bake cupcakes (or course she had to have Ariel toppers) for her class party and loved licking the beaters from the icing (she picked purple and green to match), she had two beaters and licked them clean, sugar rush! I don't know where three years have gone, they have gone by in a flash. One minute I blinked and my baby was no longer a baby. I don't miss bottles, diapers or getting up in the middle of the night but if I could rewind the time some I would, or maybe just give them some of Peter Pan's magic dust to never grow up!

Here are the pictures from the month.
