It has become very hot of late and Summer is fast approaching. We had our last few trips to the farm this month before they close for the season. Each time we went the crops were getting more sparse and it was hard to find some broccoli and tomatoes to take home. The berries were great up until the last time and they were very ripe and sweet! The last time we went the kids picked berries for free, we had about 20 pounds of berries we brought home and will be enjoying strawberry shortcake for the next few months!
The Saturday before Easter weekend we checked out the new Home Depot that opened by our house and it just
happened to be the kids craft day. The girls had fun making bunny
baskets and enjoyed an icee from Kona Ice. Only they go to build in
dresses, they are not in proper PPE! They enjoyed looking around the new
store and were interested in helping us look at things for the new
house (and of course give their opinion). We also went to the paint
store that weekend and they picked out lots of colors for their new
rooms, J of course had to choose many pink colors for her room!
We spent Easter weekend in Miami and had lots of fun. Someone liked dying Easter eggs with cousin B, Aunt Boo and Uncle Mikey, too bad we forgot to put them out to display their talents Easter morning! We went to the park and the girls got to see the macaw parrots in the trees. They also loved seeing the baby ducks and playing on the playground, almost two hours at the park wore us all out! Of course there isn't a trip to Miami without a trip to the Big Cheese and Ale House! It wasn't warm enough to swim but the girls had a good time playing with the hose and running around Grandpa's fluffy grass! Mommy had to drive both ways by herself and the girls were angels in the car.
Easter morning the girls woke up to some serious loot from the Easter Bunny! J was so happy with her new Aurora pajamas and aqua beads. We went to Aunt Boos for the traditional egg hunt, which now lasts all of five minutes since the kids are getting older. They either need to be hidden harder or we need to double the eggs next year to make more time pass! The kids had a blast opening their eggs to see what was inside, flying frogs were being flicked everywhere! We enjoyed some breakfast (and sugaring the kids up with donuts and cinnamon rolls) and the kids had fun playing.
Later that afternoon we BBQed for Grandmas birthday, no trip is complete without a picanah! J helped me decorated the rainbow cake she designed, she even draw a plan at home of how she wanted the cake to look, mommy did the best she could! The girls loved chasing Grandpa around the yard and running in the grass, there are days I miss us having a yard but don't miss the upkeep! J is starting to learn to hula hoop, she needs some lessons from Aunt Fonz when we visit Atlanta this summer!
It's hard to believe the school year is coming to an end and that someone will be moving up to Kindergarten in August! We attended kindergarten round up at the elementary school this month. J looked so little walking the halls. We got to tour the school and see two of the K classrooms. We met a few of the teachers and learned about all they will do and what we should start on over the summer to be prepared, sight words are a must! The are starting to wrap up the year in VPK. They each got their own caterpillar that will turn into a butterfly, each child will release theirs to symbolize moving on. J named her caterpillar Cupcake Aurora and predicted that it would be a pink butterfly!
J has been a great helper around the house as mommy takes on studying and starting my real estate career. She is patient and understanding when I have studying/work to do and helps me with her sister when she is in rare form. I love this big girl so much and she makes me smile all of the time. She is silly at times but is mostly loving and very affectionate. She misses me when I'm not around and is so happy to see me when I get home. I hope she is like this when she is 13!
Here are the pictures from the month.
