Our weekly outings to the farm came to an end this month. The weather has been getting hotter and the crop smaller and smaller each week. Hotter weather meant for ice cream after we did our picking! We picked strawberries up until the very end, the kids even picked for free the last time we went and I think we got 10+ pounds of berries. C didn't get strawberried out this year, hopefully she'll eat them again next season! I haven't counted how many pictures we have in the strawberry cut out but we took a pic almost every trip! We took them to Dairy Queen for their first Blizzard experience, they polished them off!
School is going great and they are working on finishing up their alphabet in class. We have been practicing flash cards at home and C now knows all of the letters by sight, she is very proud of herself too! We've also been working on the numbers and she has 1-10 down with the exception of number nine, sometimes she gets it and sometimes she doesn't. Her coloring is improving and she is doing better at staying in the lines. We are starting to work on writing her name and have been practicing letters, one morning we were working on the letter "R" and she stopped midway and looked at me and said "mommy I'm going to make a hippo" and that is just what she did! Not bad and it looks like a hippo! I think she saw the bumps along the top and thought they were ears and then drew in the eyes and mouth, she's a smart little cookie!
Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde is still in full swing. She has a fit when you take something away from her and I've caught her fighting with her dolls! While I don't wish her to grow up any quicker than she is I wish that she learn to control her temper and outbursts (at least she only has them at home most of the time, everyone other than family thinks she is a sweet angel, she has them fooled!).
We spent Easter weekend in Miami and had lots of fun. Someone liked
dying Easter eggs with cousin B, Aunt Boo and Uncle Mikey, too bad we
forgot to put them out to display their talents Easter morning! We went
to the park and the girls got to see the macaw parrots in the trees.
They also loved seeing the baby ducks and playing on the playground,
almost two hours at the park wore us all out! Mommy had to drive both ways
by herself and the girls were angels in the car.
Easter morning the girls woke up to some serious loot from the Easter
Bunny! C was happy with what she got in her basket and then she got to the Elena dress! She has been waiting for this dress for "months" and couldn't wait to put it on, we had to bribe her to take it off! She even went shopping in it the next day! The kids had their traditional egg hunt at Aunt Boo's house, it didn't take them very long to find the eggs, we either need harder sports or more eggs next year! Later that afternoon we BBQed for Grandma's birthday and the girls enjoyed playing outside.
This little girl loves to be chased by Grandpa all over the yard when we go to Miami. She yells at him to chase her more, she doesn't understand that he needs a break at times. She loves the fluffy grass and comes in with black feet and lots of dirt in her toe nails! I think she would spend all day out there with him if we let her. And of course she has to run in dresses, she is our dress girl who loves to get dolled up!
Daddy did some traveling for his new job this month so the girls and I
had a lot of quality time together! We made fairy gardens (thanks Aunt
Fonz), re-purposed Easter candy into an experiment, watched movies in bed, had play dates with friends and mommy broke one of my cardinal rules and let them eat in the car! They thought it was so cool they way I did their food in a cup tray, maybe we won't be stopping on the way to Miami anymore and eating in the car!
The biggest excitement of the month was the starting of our new house (well for C it was probably getting her Elena dress at Easter)! We've been to the model plenty that the girls get that we are moving, I think now they understand that we aren't moving to the model but the house they are building for us. They immediately wanted to know where their room would be and when we visit they go right to their spot! I love that they are able to experience this build and see the progress of the house (even if I have to bribe them to take a picture each week).
C is still our little singer (who needs voice lessons badly) and it's amazing the songs she knows. We mostly listen to country music in the car and she sings right along to whatever is on the radio! Now she tells you to turn the radio up when she hears something she likes. Peter Pan is still one of her favorite songs and she belts it out, American Idol here we do not come (turn your volume down before you listen!).
Here are the pictures from the month.
