Soccer was mostly a flop this season. Between the rain outs, our power being out, C being sick and our Disney trip I think she made it to one practice/game this month, it happened to be when Grandma and Grandpa were here, at least they got to see her in a little action! She did have fun when she was there and somewhat knew what was going on and what to do. We are going to have to try soccer again in the Spring and go back to playing on the weekend, during the week was just too hard, not sure how parents do it with activities after school and at dinner time!
C continues to love school, her teacher and friends. She is really enjoying leaning the sounds the letters make when they do their letter of the week, she likes to figure out on her own what letter a word starts with and is trying to I think read! We went on her field trip to the farm, we both really aren't farm girls so we tried to make the most of the trip after stepping in goat poop when we got there! We did get to see some baby goats, even one that was born that morning, she wasn't into feeding them and was very clingy to me when they came around her. We went on a hay ride and saw some horses, cows and birds, they played on the playground for a little while (I was the mean mommy and wouldn't let her near the ginormous sand pile!), and then got to pick out a small pumpkin to take home. We finished early so we did some shopping at Target before we met some of the other kids/moms and her teacher at Chick-fil-A for lunch, that was more up our alley!
C missed almost two weeks of school, she had a cold and I kept her home, thought she was getting better, sent her back for a day, only for her to wind up with fever again and a nasty cough. A trip to the doctor and we found out she had a nasty case of bronchitis. Home again it was and this time I kept her home till she was good and well, she finally got to go back for a day (with strict orders to her teacher) before we left to Disney. I did take her for her Halloween parade, she insisted on wearing J's Aurora costume but wasn't really digging it. She was super sick and barely ate for three days, was tired, clingy and pretty miserable. We watched lots of movies, she took naps and we played puzzles and the cupcake game. Mommy was exhausted at the end of the two weeks, just in time to run my race.
Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for Daddy's birthday. C was at the point I thought she was getting over her cold, we might have done too much with her! We celebrated Daddy's birthday at Kona Grill and the girls helped him to blow out his 4-0 candle. He got a new watch, cards made by the girls and a bag of Sour Patch Kids that C picked out for him!C got to have a special ice cream date with G&G while they were here, she was upset J had lunch with them at school and needed something special of her own.
The girls got to see me run my first race the Saturday before Halloween. In spirit of the race they dressed in their costumes to cheer me on. They were a bit obsessed with the person who ran in the inflatable dinosaur costume and we had to wait 20+ minutes after I finished (I got a PR) to watch it run down the street and cross the finish line, they giggled and started screaming when they saw it coming, not sure how the heck they ran in it! The day before Halloween we remembered we had forgotten to carve our pumpkin so I pulled out some paint and each of them got to decide what to paint their half. C choose to paint hers like Elsa, with a little help from mommy. C stayed home with me on Halloween, she was finally on the mend and I wanted to keep her healthy for Disney. Later that night we went to Chick-fil-A with friends for dinner and then did a little trick-or-treating in their neighborhood, just enough celebration for a 3 and 5 year old.
The month ended with a special day in Disney for this girl and mommy. We headed up a day early to hit the Expo and score mommy some race gear ahead of the crowds. After buying what I wanted, checking into the hotel and grabbing some lunch we headed to the Magic Kingdom for a fun filled afternoon and evening. We got pretty much all of her favorites in (Ariel, Peter Pan, Elena, Mickey, Tea Cups) we got to see the castle show and dance party, and snuck in an ice cream break, we packed a lot into our day but it was still somewhat relaxing and not as rushed as we usually are in the park, the park wasn't crowded so that helped too! The Christmas decorations were starting to go up, the castle show was already switched over to the holiday one, the MK is just so much more magical when it's holiday time. After seeing Mickey we camped out on Main Street for the night time castle show, we had hot dogs on the curb and C took lots of pictures (not many of which I kept) to pass the time. The show started and she sang along to the songs and watched in amazement, I'm glad we had this special time together. It was a great day with NO meltdowns! She passed out on the way to the hotel, I had officially worn her out!
Here are the pictures from the month (the rest of the Disney pics will be in the Disney post).
