Did someone say Legos?

How do you ring in the new year with a group of toddlers/kids? At a theme park of course! This time we tried something new and checked out Legoland, most of the kids are super into Legos so it seemed right up their alley. I found myself comparing it to Disney most of the day and had to keep reminding myself we weren't at the happiest place on earth when something was off! Makes you appreciate Disney and their training and organization, I could have done some consulting on their line management and taken it back to my OM MBA classes! At the end of the day the kids had fun and we were all together so that is what mattered.

C-man and G were probably the most excited of the bunch as they are super into Legos. C-man liked to look from afar but was very timid and shy when it came to actually doing things, he was happy just taking it all in and watching the others, in the afternoon he finally went  on the little cars and boats after riding the carousel, tractor and train earlier that morning, he sat out most of the other things and just watched with Nana.

G was brave and tackled two of the roller coasters and had a ball riding other rides and posing for silly pictures with Lego figures around the park. The Ninjagos to G are like the princesses to the girls, and when G got to meet the real Kai (I think that is who it was) he was in Lego heaven! He liked the Ninjago ride and throwing whatever they were at the screen to get points, I think I need a lesson in Ninjago one day, I am totally clueless!

J and C had fun and said they liked it as much as Disney, moms not so sure about that! J wanted nothing to do with the coasters, C wasn't tall enough or I think I might have gotten her on one. She did try and keep up as much as she could with G and K, she braved the up/down ride and rode the spinny one that made mommy sick just looking at it, I'm surprised J went on that one! J sort of held back with C-man some of the day and enjoyed looking at figures, riding the smaller rides and watching everyone else. She was excited when we made it over to the "Friends" area of the park and she got to see Mia, Andrea and Olivia some of the girl Legos, Stephanie was there too but we didn't get a picture of her (I was told to write all of this).

K was the bravest of them all, she rode all three of the roller coasters, cried some while on the rides and then fake cried when she got off, but waned to keep going on them! I even got her to go on the flight school coaster where your feet dangle! I don't know how I convinced her but this four year old conquered any fears she had and rode with the adults while everyone else watched her! She even asked me after dark if we could ride it again so that we could see the city lights. I can't wait to take her to Busch Gardens when she is older to ride with me, Aunt and niece bonding over coasters is gonna be the best!

We ended the rides of the day with a family fire truck challenge which I'm sure for those waiting in line was a sight to see, Nana and C-man had to be peeing in their pants watching us all make fools of ourselves, there is no family competition here! On our way back to the front of the park to shop and find dinner we visited Miniland USA where there were replicas of cities set-up, the kids also did a scavenger hunt around the village looking for the different clocks and all got a special NYE Duplo when they were done.

The kids got to spend their Christmas money from Nana and Pop Pop in the shops, the girls chose to shop in the Friends Shopping mall and each got new Disney Princess Lego sets that were all new releases, J and K got Aurora and C got an Ariel ship. The boys shopped up at the main store and got some type of Ninjago and Superhero Legos. The kids had some pizza and us adults ate some awesome granny apple fries while we waited for the firework show. We made our own little fire work viewing party on a little patio we found, the staff were passing out 3-D glasses that made the fireworks look like Legos, while you can't compare it to Disney fireworks it was a good little show and J didn't even complain about not having her ear muffins! We had a nice day with lots of laughs, a few cries (mostly K and her fake cries) and lots of memories made for these kiddos! Having six (and soon to be seven) cousins makes their own little party and a group of friends for life.

Here are the pictures from the day.
