62 months

We have another little bookworm in the making! She decided she wanted to take a hiatus from her sight words and has moved onto books! She loves going to the library at school every week and getting a book, she has pretty much been able to read them on her own, she is mad that I am making her read the level one and two books, she wants to be like her sister and dive straight into the chapter books, mommy isn't ready for you to be that grown up yet! She is reading at bedtime and between her and J and their out loud reading we can't hear the TV, we have surround sound coming from the hallway! She can read most of the signs as we are out and there is no skipping over items on the kids menu anymore, she can read most of them! They had their check-up at the dentist this month, the spot that the dentist had been watching has turned into a bigger cavity and she will have to go in for a filling next month, she is crazy enough to begin with, I can't wait to see how she does with the laughing gas! Otherwise her teeth were good and as much as she wants a wiggly tooth none were wiggly.

After watching for two hours the first week someone decided she would rather play soccer than be "bored" watching her sister practice and play. So we signed her up to play on J's team and she was the youngest one out there. She did well in practices, listened to the coach and followed the drills, during games it was a different story. She was back to picking daisies, watching the clouds, zoning out and running around after the ball like a wild animal, oh well, at least she was getting some exercise and some energy out! She liked playing goalie and just standing there, thank goodness her team was pretty good and kept the other team from going anywhere near her! She's having fun so I guess that is all that matters at her age.

School is winding down and this month they started to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly as their last educational unit. The preschool pulls on our heart strings and does a butterfly release for the VPK kids to symbolize them leaving preschool and venturing off to kindergarten, the parents cry but the kids have a great time with this project. They kids were all excited when the caterpillars arrived and they each got one to name and watch grow, C named hers Caroline. They watched them eat (and poop) in their little cups and journaled about them through the different cycles. A week or so later they all cocooned in their chrysalis and were transplanted to a large tent inside the classroom where they would continue their transformation, more on this in next months post! Daddy got to go with her on their field trip to the South Florida Museum (mommy was on J's field trip) and she was excited he got to go! They learned all about manatees, other Florida wildlife and got to see the planetarium show, which she said was her favorite part. They had a McDonalds date for lunch and it was nice that the two of them got to spend some alone time together. We had her end of the year conference with her teacher, we saw her progression of work through the year, leaned how bright she is (like we didn't know that already) and got to see her scores from the VPK testing they had done, she is more than ready for kindergarten!

Nana surprised the girls with a last minute trip while the Georgia crew was on Spring Break, Nana got a Spring Break too! Mommy spent all of Saturday driving to pick her up in North Florida, the girls thought I was showing houses, and when we walked in late that afternoon the girls were surprised to see her. The week went by quick but we had a great low-key visit, it always seems like her visits are hectic, this one was more relaxed and we just hung out which was nice for a change. We saw Grandma and Grandpa a lot this month too, BBQ's, swimming and we celebrated Grandma's birthday! The girls are into going to fancy restaurants of late and were happy we went to one to celebrate, and they behaved very well and made us all proud. They spent a long weekend with G&G while mommy and daddy took a little get-a-way to Chicago for mommy's birthday! The girls enjoyed their time with G&G BBQing, swimming and going to a fancy dinner, they even managed to fit some school in there too!

We had a quiet Easter at home, the girls were excited for the bunny to come and were making predictions all week on what he was going to fill their eggs with, C was right, she guessed that hatchimals were inside the eggs. C loved hatching her eggs and her new swimsuits that have ruffle skirt bottoms. We went to G&G's for lunch and had a great afternoon swimming in the pool and eating BBQ, seems to be the Sunday tradition of late.

My mermaid has been practicing her "mermaid" swim and I might just need to teacher her how to do some butterfly arms to go with it, maybe the next Michael Phelps? Is there such thing as a singing mermaid because this girl also loves to sing and dance, not sure why she doesn't want to try a dance class, it probably would be right up her alley. She has been listening to songs that Aunt Fonz will be singing in her next concert, she especially loves City of Stars, poor Alexa with her requests of playing it constantly! We celebrated my birthday at a "fancy restaurant" and their new American Girl dolls (C's is Camille) that we brought them back from Chicago of course had to come with! The next day C broke her dolls arm and it was an epic meltdown, and a meltdown every time the arm came off until the replacement doll got here, she quickly learned these dolls are not like her Cabbage Patch babies and that she has to be careful with them, glad we haven't gotten the $200 doll yet!

Here are the pictures from the month.
