Week 51

We had visitors this week! Aunt F, Uncle D and cousin G came to town on Friday. J and G last saw each other when we were in Mimi in September, they both have grown a lot since then. They actually sort of played together this time too, it was more like playing next to each other but their interaction was a lot more. We even caught them a few times trying to "talk" to each other, so cute!

We had a HUGE development this week, J is walking! Friday night daddy was home with J while everyone else was at Central Market and he called to say she had taken about 10 steps for him. I was a little disappointed I wasn't there but then though that I had so many firsts with her while I was on maternity leave that it was nice her and daddy got to share this special milestone by themselves. As soon as we got home all I wanted to do was see her walk...here she is!

Saturday we ventured down to Fair Park and to the Dallas Children's Aquarium. G loved the fish and J was excited to see them too. This was her first outing of this sort (we haven't done the zoo yet either, G loves the zoo) and she loved touching the glass and yelling at the fish! The aquarium was just the right size for the little ones and their short attention span. We tried to get a few photos of them together but that didn't work out so well. We had to give them puffs and cheerios to get them to cooperate so in most of the pictures you can see them chewing or the food in their mouths.

After lunch we went to Mariano's for a Mexican lunch feast. J slept through the first part of the meal then woke up and went to town on some fajita meat, she loves her chicken and beef. G is a great eater too and is doing really well with his fork and spoon. On our way out we tried to get them to ride the horse but neither wanted anything to do with it once it started moving.

We played out side (of course J had to go and see her pumpkins and G had to ride the swing) and J got her birthday present early, a slide/castle fort thing that will eventually make its way to the backyard once Winter is over. She loved her slide and is a little slide machine, G liked her slide too and showed her how it is done. We eventually had to put it in another room to keep it out of their sight as all they wanted to do was slide!

Sunday we went to the Dallas Farmer's Market to check out the BBQ joint there, Pecan Lodge. We had seen it on the Food Network and had been wanting to give it a try. While it was better than anything F&D can get in Jax, we still think Hard 8 is our choice and where we will continue to take people, but hey we tried it. After lunch we bought some produce to make dinner and came on home. The little ones took naps, F&D went to the Sixth Floor, and F&I relaxed for a little while.

Monday we all went to lunch at La Madeline before Uncle D and G headed back home, Aunt F got to stay for a another day to hang out with Miss J. Aunt F gave J her first Dum Dum lollipop, at first she was like "what is this" and then she figured out it was sweet and yummy, now she realizes why G likes his pops! We had a great visit, can't wait to see them again at Christmas and how much more J and G will interact.

Not much else to report on the week. J mixes her crawling and walking, when she wants to get somewhere fast she drops to all fours! She tried mac-n-cheese this week and liked it. We are gearing up for Thanksgiving and her birthday...hard to believe the year has gone by this fast.

Here are the pictures from the week.
