Christmas started out the month. We spent a quiet Christmas in Dallas with just the four of us. J went to town opening her presents and jumped right in to help C when she was taking to long to open hers up! The day was spent playing with all her new toys and figuring out her new tablet, although she had some major interest in C's toys, and by dinner time mommy and daddy were exhausted! Mommy cooked a prime rib for dinner which both girls went to town on and after baths and a little TV we called it a night. After being home the 24th and 25th, they were back to school for part of the day on the 26th so that mommy and daddy could relax and regroup! New Years was just as quiet as Christmas and we were all in bed way before midnight!
The week between Christmas and New Years was spent starting to pack the house. Mommy was off from work and while the kids were at school I got started on packing away what we could live without for the next few weeks...like old toys since there were plenty of new ones to play with! I've done pretty well and have been pretty spot on with each of our moves, I didn't realize that having kids would all 40+ boxes to your inventory!
Daddy traveled for work most of the month and while he was gone J was my #1 helper around the house. She helped me organize, pack, fold laundry, help with C, play with C, you name it and she was my little helper (and good for most of the time except a few days where she didn't have her listening ears on!). In all she did very well with all of the change (except for not wanting to go to bed and sleeping too many nights with mommy) that was happening rather quickly, I think what was helping was all of the talking up of the new house we were doing and her excitement to have a "Paris White" room, she wouldn't call it pink and kept referring to the color by it's name, oh this child! Daddy's last trip to FL before we moved he got to take a picture of her "pink" room and she was so excited when she saw it, and have I mentioned enough times that I really don't like pink? I've just learned to accept what my kids like, pink and glitter!
She loves her new tablet (her iPad as she calls it) and it has helped to keep her occupied when I have needed to get things done. She also loves her messages app where she can send and receive messages from family who have downloaded the app to their phones. Nana and Grandma keep her wanting to constantly check her messages to see what she got from them, she gets really excited when it says "you have new messages".
Puzzles continue to be one of her favorite thing to do. She got a few new ones for Christmas and can put them both together in less than 10 minutes, they never get old! I really want to know what is going on inside her brain as she puts these together, to watch the steps she takes is really amazing for a three year old, and I find myself just sitting there in awe watching her and shaking my head at this kid. For her birthday and Christmas she got some legos which she is also enjoying, although mommy needs to help her put them together, finally something that is challenging for this kid!
This month continues to be a month of doing things all by herself. Pottying now is something she can do all by herself when we are at home. She narrates as she goes, especially when there is #2 she counts them aloud for you! Like I said before she is also helping a lot with C and playing more with her (or tormenting her as this video shows!) her every day.
She continues to do well in school and I am going to her miss school when we move. Her teacher Ms. J has been wonderful (since we decided not to move her to the next class when she turned three) about keeping her engaged and learning. She is the helper in the classroom and helps the teachers with the younger kids. She has started to learn how to write her name and is starting to cut. The weather has been a little nicer and they have been able to go outside at school, J is going to love Florida and all the outside time here! She must have learned to do these jumping jacks at school, goofball!
J got to have one last work day with mommy. She got all dressed up in a dress, got to get doughnuts for breakfast, have lunch at the burger place with Ms. Susan, hang out with Ms. Donna and Kitty while I went to get C from school. She was an angel and enjoyed her big girl day at the office!
We ended the month finishing out almost two years of swim lessons. She can swim about 15 feet, can get back to the wall and pull herself out (she was actually reaching for a toy in one class while she was sitting on the side of the pool and fell in, she turned herself right around and got back to the wall, a perfect showing of money well spent!) and is learning to roll. Once we get our new pool built mommy will be taking over swim lessons for J!
Here are the pictures from the month.
