The month started with J getting to go with mommy to get a pedicure which resulted in her getting her nails polish, pink of course, for being a good girl. I hope I didn't start something here, I love my quiet time when I go to get my nails done! She couldn't wait to show her teacher her nails that Monday at school.
We spent Easter morning at the splash park and playing on the patio in the water table (J loved growing the sponge capsules), of course they had to wear their new matching suits the Easter Bunny brought them. J was all into the basket this year and what she got, she was disappointed there wasn't more candy or toys, isn't the EB supposed to bring practical things you need? After rest time we headed to our friends house for a BBQ and egg hunt, it was just enough chaos for me and the girls had a great time, they love getting together with J, they are three peas in a pod when they are together.
The weather has been beautiful and we have been getting outside almost daily and going through lots of sunscreen. We've started heating the spa for them so that they can "swim" in there while we wait for the pool to warm up. J is doing well and I am sure will pick up right where she left off last summer once she can dive into the big pool. I've worked a few times with her on floating which she seems to be doing better at, she can't get past putting her ears in the water, she says it tickles. She's been going on her bike some when I run/walk and is keeping up with my three miles, although we stop many times for water and her to eat her snack she insists putting in her basket. Her sunflowers we planted about six weeks ago have started to bloom. She was VERY excited when the first flower opened and runs to the sliding doors each morning to see if there is anymore "yellow" out there. The stalks have to be over six feet tall, I'm sure we will have to plant pink flowers next. She also gets excited when we see wildlife in our yard, she is a good bunny spotter.
She is doing well in school, they have now finished the alphabet and will spend the last month of school learning about space. I can't believe school is almost over, it seems like yesterday when she was starting. We went to her schools annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser and art show. She was so proud to show me her piece of art she had been working on in class for "weeks" as she says. Her teacher had the class make their own "Old McDonald Had a Farm" book and let each of the students pick their own animal and draw it. She then circulated the book home for all the families to see. J and I read the book together and when I got to her page my mouth dropped, her drawing was the BEST of the bunch by far and I could not believe what I was looking at was drawn by a four year old, then again she is my child! She was so excited to show daddy the book that night when he got home, of course he was biased too about our brilliant child!
We have been working on her writing at home and she is doing a great job copying what we write out for her. She wrote her first card for Grandma's birthday all by herself and drew her some ducks too. She is really into painting/drawing too, I should probably see if there are any classes I could enroll her in, she is going through our printer paper like it's water with all she wants to draw. She loves to count to 100 and pretty much has it down by herself, this is what we do most mornings on our drive to school, I wish the car had a limo screen at times!
I find the girls playing together more (and also fighting more) these days. It used to be they were in the same room with different toys but now migrate to the same toys and are playing together. They love to dress up, play princesses, and of course babies. I need to get J to help me potty train C, otherwise I need to teach her how to change a diaper better than this.
The highlight of the month was soccer starting, she is wearing daddy's #7. After a tantrum the first day over what she had to wear, under no circumstances (or bribery) was she wearing the black shorts, she had to wear her pink shorts, she got to the field (40 minutes late) and had a great time. She is doing well in the practice part and at least runs the right way during the games! She's kicked and thrown the ball in a few times and kicked the ball a few times during the games, no goals yet though.
Here are the pictures from the month
