This month started with our Atlanta trip to see the cousins. It was all J talked about the days and weeks leading up to the trip. I probably should have made a chain countdown so that she could have visualized her anticipation! She was go excited to see her cousins and had a great time playing and exploring the city with them. She really enjoyed going to the zoo and seeing the Panda twins, she was the only one who didn't want to feed the giraffe, when she was young and we went to the Dallas Zoo she loved feeding them! She put up a little bit of a fit at the Cabbage Patch Hospital when she couldn't find the right baby and name. When we found out we could change the name she got much happier and actually chose a doll, who has now not left her side! She enjoyed mining for gems but wasn't that much of a fan of bowling. We had a great trip with lots of memories made, she is already talking about next summer when we go back! The week after we were back we got to see the cousins again for a day while they were in FL visiting their other grandparents, we had a fun day swimming in Nana's pool, eating lots of Cheetos and making more memories.
We spent most of the month of July having camp mom! I tried my best to keep the girls occupied and entertained, hard when most of what this city has to offer is outdoors and it is either raining or hot! J's best friend had a Fancy Nancy Tea Party, it was great for the girls from J's VPK class to see each other again before they all start Kindergarten, they had fun playing together and J taught everyone how to shoot popcorn from the blowers! We did crafts at Michael's and found out how difficult pearler beads are! We went to the movies and saw D3, which the girls loved (and cracked up the entire time) and Happy Feet 2, which was just OK. Our mall had a kids morning out every Thursday morning during the summer, the day we finally made it they got to make their own cake pops and they had a magician, J loved it and we had to watch the show twice (again this summer she is very much into America's Got Talent). We went up to St. Pete to the kids museum, it was J's first time there and while I thought she was too big for most of it she had a great time playing in the Publix area with C!
We spent a day having fun with Nana and Pop Pop (I had kept promising them a surprise but the rain was messing up my plans). The girls went mini-golfing, J has been mini golfing before and she walked up thinking she was Tiger Woods! She was a little jealous when C and I got a hole-in-one on the first hole, a few holes later she got one too and was so happy! Afterwards we picked up Pop Pop and headed to the bowling alley to keep dry. J at first wasn't too happy we were going bowling but when she realized Nana was a good helper and she was winning she was a happy camper (and somewhat of a sore winner)! She enjoyed playing with Nana and when I went to help her and got less points she got mad! The girls bowled two games, which J won both of, and then we went to have some lunch. We had a nice busy day!
Swimming is going great and every day I see her more comfortable in the water. She has mastered the cannon ball and loves to jump over and over again. She is diving towards the bottom and has figured out how to push off the pool bottom. She is doing much better with her arms (after some fighting and not wanting to do them) and I have tried to teach her how to breathe on her side, still a work in progress. When we were swimming with her cousins she was K doing a somersault in the water and has almost gotten it herself, she ends up a little crooked but for the most part has it down. I think she is going to be ready for swim team next summer!
Someone has had a very big appetite of late and is eating us out of home most days! She has decided she wants a "chicken burger" now at Chick-fil-a instead of a kids meal, why don't they make a kid sized sandwich, and can eat the entire thing with some fries and fruit! She is definitely going through a growth spurt, she is taller but still as skinny as a pole bean! She has very long legs and her size five shorts are way to short but the size six ones fall off of her, we are going to have trouble finding shorts to wear for school that aren't too short! Daddy took them to Cow Appreciation day at CFA and she thought it was hilarious to dress up as a pink cow!
It's hard to believe the summer is coming to an end and Kindergarten will be starting soon! Oh and somone finally got her library card, Daddy had to find things to do with the girls while mommy was having Open Houses! She loves to go to the library and is doing well on her sight words preparing for school.
Here are the pictures from the month.
