Week 6

Happy New Year! Week 6 brought on 2012.

2011 was a great year for us, we traveled to Europe (one day I will finish my Paris blog on my other blog site), came back and found out we were pregnant, bought a house and had a baby. The only thing we didn't seem to get was a new car!

Friday (going back to the Friday before NYE) we hung out with Grandma and Grandpa. We took them to lunch at Nana's new favorite place in Dallas Kuby's. They, like Nana, loved the place! I guess we need to add Kuby's (just like Hard 8) onto the staple list for visitors. After lunch we went and checked out the new liquor store down the street (Specs) from our house to get some sparking wine (I'd say champagne but that is not correct since we did not buy French) for New Year's Eve. Mommy decided that the stroller we purchased (Maxi Cosi Perle) was also a good buy because you can push easily with one hand and sample spirits with the other! When we got home we Facetimed into Christmas in Miami and opened all of the gifts that were left when Nana and my sister's visited. Even though we were not there in person it was nice to be able to see everyone over the Web and see what everyone got, really I was just interested in seeing Baby G with his new toys! Can't wait to get the cousins together in February when we go to Jax for Baby G's 1st birthday.

Friday night, at 5 weeks old, we had our first all nighter but we can't complain because we have slept pretty well since bringing her home. J woke up at 1:30am with major gas and was not a happy camper. We tried the bouncy seat and swing but all she wanted to do was be held or lay on her mommy or daddy. Finally at 7:30am (after maybe nodding off a few times in 6 hours) Grandma took J so that mommy and daddy could get a little shut eye. By the afternoon she was doing a better and Grandma and I were able to take J on her first walk outside since it was nice out and she didn't have to be bundled up. She enjoyed the walk (we even took Ginger too) and change of scenery. Now if the Dallas weather would cooperate so that we can take more walks without having to layer!

We celebrated NYE with a surf and turf dinner and decided that we would ring in the New Year at 8pm with the family in Brazil. There was no way we were making it to midnight! I don't remember that last time I missed the ball drop in Times Square but sleep was more important! J even gave us a NYE present, she slept for 6 hours, probably because she was tired from being up the night before, so were mommy and daddy and the extra sleep was much appreciated!

Sunday we ventured to our favorite place, Northpark (you will probably get tired of me talking about Northpark, one day we'll go to the Galleria instead) to have lunch at La Duni.

Monday we had to say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa as it was time for them to head home to Miami.

The rest of the week was not too exciting. J and I are now on our own and adjusting to our daily routine which consists of :
- Bottles
- Diaper changes
- Swing time
- Play in bouncy seat and stare at Christmas tree (I might just leave it up all year and decorate for each holiday!)
- Play on play mat
- Try some tummy time on play mat but she isn't a fan of tummy time, it seems like it is torture for her!
- Have lunch with daddy if he is able to come home
- Nap time

In between all of this we have bottles to wash, laundry to do, a house to clean and cooking to be done. I'm learning that things need to be done in small increments while she is napping, the house will never be cleaned all at one, if I'm able to get a full room done that is success!

  2. Hmmm, in 2004 a boy named T really liked Northpark and Galleria but if if you really want to a change and can go out of your way, StoneBriar = Pottery Barn Kids!
