Where do I even start? This was probably the best week (minus my first attempt to take her out solo and her shots) we have had to date! It seems that now each day she is learning or doing something new, the fun is really beginning!
We started the week putting all of the newborn clothes away (sniff, sniff, but we did get a good 8 weeks out of them) and moving the 0-3 and 3 month clothes (although most are still a little big) to the front of the closet. You will for the time being, until they too become redundant, see J in a whole new wardrobe. I'm still trying to decide which is my favorite outfit of this bunch. Even though we didn't have much to choose from in the newborn size the hotdog/balloons onesize was my favorite, well that and the little pants that had the heart on the butt!
We had lunch on Friday (my first real outing with J by myself) with Auntie Rae at Northpark at our new favorite restaurant La Duni. After lunch (R headed back to work) we were going to do a little shopping but J decided to have one of her fits in the middle of Janie and Jack. The lady in the store even complimented me on how calm and collected I was for a new mom (why thank you!). I got her calmed down enough to get her back into her car seat and as we were driving to SMU (so that mommy could do a couple of quick things for her conference in March) the wailing started again...needless to say our visit was as short as her temper!

We had a couple of outings this weekend. We went to Babies R Us to get a few more Baby Einstein DVD's. She seems to really love them (still not sure how much she can actually see them) and they actually help to calm her down when she is having her daily meltdown. I also thought they would be good to keep her occupied on the airplane when we go to Florida in a couple of weeks. We haven't really discussed the TV and what and when we are going to introduce her to the many features of the "magic light box" but for the time being BE's and classical music to shapes can't hurt her little developing brain and make her dependent on the TV.
We also had our first trip to every man's favorite store this weekend...HOME DEPOT! Now that we are living in our own home again, I don't think a weekend (except the weekend she was born) has gone by that money hasn't been spent in that store by our household! I'm sure J will have many, many more exciting visits there with her daddy and grandpa's.
Wednesday (after two rainy days) we needed to get out of the house and attempted another outing to the mall. This time J was a little angel and we got to eat (we met Ms. Carrie for lunch), stroll and shop. This outing is helping me conquer the "take baby out by myself" fear!
We spent some time this week (since we had slacked the last 7.5 weeks) really focusing on tummy time. She really didn't like it and I hated to force it on her but I figured that sooner or later she would have to get over it. Well on Thursday she finally got over it and rolled over (see previous posts)! Now she can decide on her own that if she doesn't like tummy time to roll over to her back.
Thursday was also a big day for her cousin Baby G! Baby G has been terrorizing my sisters house (and his puppies) with his walker for months. We new the day was near but he had been afraid to take a step without holding onto something. Well yesterday that changed (he's 11.5 months old) and he took his first couple of steps for his Grammy (better for her than at daycare)! Way to go Baby G! Can't wait to see your steps in person in a few weeks!
We ended our 9th week with J's two month check-up. She's right were she was at her three week check-up, 25% for weight (9 pounds, 15 ounces) and 50% for length (22.25 inches). Sooner or later she'll catch-up or maybe she'll be petite? We got another great report on her and the doctor even told us that she could objectively say that J is one of the most beautiful babies in her practice. I know she's my kid and all but she really is a beauty! At the end of the visit she got her first round of shots (mommy only got a little teary eyed, daddy watched) and we came home and she conked out.
Oh yeah...and she is also continuing to sleep well! Maybe in the near future maybe mommy and daddy will be able to go to bed at the same time again :)

She is getting more beautiful every day and getting so big!! I love all the new outfits and personally believe that all of her clothes should have ruffles on the butt.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hold her again!!! nana xo
ReplyDeleteOh, shots. I'd like to say it gets better as they get older (watch out for the 4 year appt!), but it doesn't necessarily follow. TAH was at the doc Friday for his 8 year appointment and had to have a finger stick... So I can unequivocally say that they just get LOUDER! (However, the anticipation was much worse than the reality) -SSH
