Week 46

The Floridian in Chicago lives to write another blog, only this time we were tourists and not residents of the Windy City, although we quickly felt right at home. We had a great time in Chicago, it was nice going to a city with not much other than catching up with friends, eating, drinking and a football game on our schedule. The rest of the time was left up to what we wanted to do, which was not much, and just getting to relax a bit and sleep past 6:30am! Too me it was interesting to see what has changed in the last two years. We stopped by our old building and visited with the doorman and were able to share with him that we are now parents (of course I had to show him pictures of J). Of course the weekend went by too fast and before we knew it we were headed home (with a big ole loss) with everything checked off my list: Portillo's, Lou Malnati's, Bongo Room, Purple Pig, the Bean, a walk through the park, walking on State Street and Michigan Avenue, Stocks and Blonde's, seeing Tracey, the awful football game, Garrett's Popcorn, and riding the El to/from the airport.

Until next time here are the pictures from Chicago, some how I managed to get them down to just 50 pictures! It's not like I don't have 2,000+ pictures of the city!

While mommy and daddy were having fun and relaxing while we were away, things were a little less relaxing at home, welcome to the world of living with a 10 month old! Not as easy as when the grandparents were younger and raising us! Grandma had this to say about their time with Miss J:

Getting to spend time with J was like a kid enjoying Disneyland. We had lots of fun during the day and by 8pm we were exhausted and ready to go to bed!!!! But since J is such a good baby and sleeps well at night we could have our rest. I couldn't believe that she goes to bed 7:30pm and wakes up at 6:30am the next morning! During the day she's like a clock with her meals and naps, mom and dad are doing a wonderful job! We loved the time we spent with her, and hope we are invited very often!
Not too many picrtures taken while we were gone but here is a video and the log they kept while they were there...cute, except for the screaming that has started...and continues!

Monday night Auntie K came over to babysit J so that we could go out and celebrate F's bday (early) while his parents were still here. It was nice to have dinner , sans baby, and spend a little time with them since we really hadn't seen them and they were leaving the next day.

It was a whirlwind of a week and to top it off Nana came into town on Thursday (she booked the trip a while back not knowing we were all going to be in Miami in September) to spend a week with us.

J not only waves bye-bye but she is now saying "buh-bie" most of the time. She is so cute in how she says it and most of the time it is after we turn the iPad off or walk out of the door at school. The wave comes first followed by the words a few seconds later. I also think she is saying the word baby, it sounds like "bae bee" and she said book as clear as day the other night for Auntie K. She babbles and jibber jabbers all the time and constantly has something to say, daddy is never going to get a word in!

She has also started screaming and the high pitchiness of it is getting to me. Time to nip that in the bud! Sometimes it's because she wants something other times I just think it's becasue she likes to hear herself sccream and use those vocal chords. She still isn't doing well at eating finger foods, Grandma didn't have much luck while we were gone except for puffs, Magic Pop and watermelon...go figure! But we did get her to eat a little bit of fried rice, a start. I think she is getting into the clinginess stage (especially when taking her to school) and hope that separation anxiety (Ginger having separation anxiety is enough for me) is not developing :(
