30 months

The month started with a long weekend to celebrate Memorial Day. While everyone in Texas heads to the lakes for the summer holidays, we spent a quiet weekend at home (in our little pool) just hanging out since Miss C had been under the weather for a few weeks. J was a great big sister while her little was not feeling well and of course was ready to help when we needed her too, or more like ready to help when we didn't need her help!

We had two visitors this month. Grandma came out on a last minutes notice to help take care of Miss C when she relapsed with her tummy issues. J didn't get to spend as much time with Grandma (she still went to school) but they had plenty of quality play-doh time when she got home from school. They also cooked, played puzzles, had tea parties and played babies. We took Grandma to one of J's favorite places the "pancake place" as she calls it for breakfast one morning. We had a great visit with Grandma and then had to say goodbye so that she could get back to Miami and Grandpa.

Two days later Uncle Danny (we'll call him UD for short just like Udonis from the Heat and we won't talk about the Heat losing while our UD was here) came into town to hang out and watch soccer with daddy for five days. J isn't old enough yet to understand the significance of the World Cup but at a young age she is already a Brasil (or ba-zil as she says) fan and we are teaching her to root for the USA too. She watched a little soccer but enjoyed so much more playing with UD, and I didn't take a picture while they were playing tea party! Not sure what it is with her and all of the men (uncle's, grandpa's, cousins) in her life but she clearly likes them more than the women, sorry ladies just being true! We had some BBQ while UD was here and J enjoyed sitting on the patio and playing bean bags (cornhole).

She got her second hair cut this month, it was more like a trim. She sat in the chair all by herself this time eating a lollipop and watching Mickey Mouse while Miss Ginger worked her magic. What a difference cutting the slightest bit of hair makes! After her hair cut we went to lunch at the "fishy place", one day the restaurants will have name and J enjoyed dancing at the table to the blues music that was playing. As the video's below show, someone loves to dance but clearly has no rhythm! I'll cringe the day she asks to take dance classes!

We also had out first dentist appointment this month. Not how I planned for it to go, for some reason I thought she was going to be good, but she proved me wrong! She wanted nothing to do with the dentist office other than playing with the toys. The other little girl that was her same age behaved like an angel and had the entire check-up done (to include xrays). J on the other hand couldn't even be bribed into letting the doctor just count her teeth! I finally had to hold her upside down so the doc could count her teeth, she is still missing her last set of molars. Hopefully in six months when we try again she will cooperate (and behave!) better.

We ended our swim class with Mr. Brandon, who J just loved and have moved onto the next level with Ms. Kerin. J had been swimming with Mr. Brandon for so long that I thought she was going to have a hard adjustment in the next class but she has done just fine. Ms. Kerin is impressed with what J can do at her age and is taking on the challenge to get her to kick consistently and swim farther.

To finish the post I will just note how smart our two and a half year old is. She can unlock the iPad herself using the password (and calls out the numbers as she does it). She was so proud of herself the first time she did it, why did I encourage this? I've attached pictures to my contacts so she can even call people herself on Facetime, she knows the FT icon and then looks at the pictures for who she wants to call and then knows to push the red button when she is done talking. Little Miss Smarty Pants!

Here are the pictures from the month.

  1. Love the dancing. We do a lot of dancing to 'Blue Ribbon Bunny' in our house too. G especially loves the new Disney Jr music video 'Dance, Dance, Dance'. When it comes on he proclaims "Mommy, I have to do my exercises!!" and proceeds to dance along and makes me replay it like 10 times. Also love J's new big girl car seat!!
