This week started off with J's 9 month check-up, a familiar place the last couple of weeks. It was an easy appointment, just one shot, the flu shot. She is growing great, she is up to 18.7 pounds (50%) and is a long little one measuring in at 29" which is the 90th percentile! The next time we go back to the doctor it will be for her one year check-up...where has the time gone?
I had said that when we got back from Miami that I was going to try and be better at cooking some food for J. You could start to see that she was getting tired of the baby food and that she wanted to eat with her fingers. She loves her Magic Pop and loves watermelon. While we were in Miami she ate hot dog, Cuban bread, rice, she tried avocado but wasn't a fan and had a little chicken. I figured I would start her with cut up carrots and green beans (hey you can buy them frozen and they cook quickly in the microwave). She sort of liked the carrots but wasn't a fan of the beans.
I then made her some homemade mashed potatoes but you can tell by the look on her face they were not a hit! I wish I would have had my video camera going, the look she made and then she started gagging and shoving her fingers in her mouth to try and get the potatoes out. This mother of the year fed her more so that daddy could she her reaction. We tired mashed potatoes again another night and nope she doesn't like them!
Tuesday was one of the best days of my life. After a long day at work, I went to pick up J. When I got into her room and opened the gate she saw me. She crawled towards me as fast as she could saying ma-ma-ma! It just melted my heart. That was the first time that she acknowledged me, other than when she was sick and saying mama as I pissed her off and gave her medicine. Poor daddy hasn't gotten to many da-da-da's lately :(
Not much else exciting this week. Here are a few pictures.
mama ... music to your ears :) xo
