It is hard to believe in two months we will have a three year old! I know I say this a lot about the time going way to fast but it just is. The summer flew by with a wink of an eye and I feel cheated from being so busy at work that I basically missed enjoying these couple of months and the growing up that happened. Miss J is a great big sister and I love watching the girls interact more with each other, I see the little mother starting to form in J!
Potty training is continuing to go well and we are in underwear pretty much all of the time now. She doesn't have many accidents and is starting to wake up dry in the mornings and is doing well when we are out telling me that she has to potty. She is still getting a night time pull-up for sometime, mommy is not cleaning up pee from the bed! She is still struggling with going #2 on the potty and while we tried to push it, we upset her little bowels and she refused to go for days (even in a pull-up). Mommy went out and bought her prunes and chocolate covered plums that she now eats almost daily. She was like a little old lady walking into school with her bag of prunes to eat! I've read about potty struggles and think we just need to dial back and not push the poop (ha! that reads funny!) and let her use the potty when she is ready. We have her trained that when she needs to go she goes and gets her own pull-up and puts it on by herself, and then we get the lucky task of cleaning it up (YUCK!). Just go in the potty and it will be easier on us all and mommy will give you the stack of potty prizes that are lonely!
She is continuing to do well at swimming. We did have two weeks where she wasn't digging it because her regular teacher was on vacation. The one day we went she was so bad and crying so hard that you would have through she was deathly afraid of the water and couldn't swim. After her performance we skipped the next week and when her teacher got back she went back to being the super swimming that she is! She is doing much better with her kicking and her teacher is starting to teach her how to roll, although she still isn't confident by herself on her back. I would really like to test her skills out of a formal swimming lesson and might just be throwing her in the pool and seeing what she does on her own when we are in Miami (I know mean mom!).
We have an imaginary "lion" that has been roaming our house this last month. He only seems to come out in the afternoon and evening when it is somewhat dark. Daddy is playing "lion catcher" and we are having to accompany her to do what she wants so that the lion does not get her. I still haven't figured out where the lion has come from, I guess I should ask her teacher.
Someone loves to sing and dance, and no she is not the next Dancing with the Stars or Voice champion! She tells us what to play when we get in the car, we are trying to get her to listen to some of our music too, and between her singing and talking never shuts up!
She is my side kick when it comes to house chores (am yes I am putting child labor to work at helping with dishes and laundry, I'll take it now when she wants to do it, not when I'm fighting her to do it when it is a required chore!) and and loves to go with me to run errands. And when she doesn't get to go, or we don't have to go there is sometimes a meltdown.
She continues to do well at school and is now one of the oldest kids in the class. Her friends (that go both #1 and #2 on the potty) have started moving up to the next Montesori class. Until she decides she is ready to poop she has to stay where she is, which might be a plot she is planning so tht she can stay with Miss J, I wouldn't put it past her to know that she will be moving classes when she is fully potty trained.
Here are the pictures from the month.
