C and I continued our girls time away and spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Jax.
Monday was a rainy day and we headed to the mall for a bit to let the kids exert some energy in the indoor play area. My sisters MIL, Gammy, came up for a visit and to meet Miss C. She is the baby whispered and makes babies very content. Miss C had not been doing well with her bottles with all of the commotion in the house (she is too nosy and needs to see everything going on) but leave it to Gammy to cuddle, rock her and get her to suck her entire bottle down!
Tuesday we packed all of the kids into the magic school bus (what my sister calls her minivan) and headed to the zoo for the day. It was an overcast and yucky (typical hot and humid day in FL) day but the zoo wasn't crowded and the animals were active so it was bearable. The kids enjoyed seeing the animals and running wild when we would let them out of their containment! We had a nice outing, minus a few meltdowns and bruises, and by about 12:30pm our zoo got cranky and it was time to head home for naps! Later that night Fonz and I took Miss C out for girls night (thanks to Uncle Dew for watching their kiddos so we could have some sister time sans chaos) at the Ale House, chicken wings, beer and adult conversation, what could be any better!
Wednesday G man went to school and we ran some errands with the twins and C. Having just the three of them was a huge difference then when all four were together. Things were actually somewhat manageable and less chaotic. Later that afternoon we headed to the airport and had to say our goodbyes. It was a fun and exhausting five days but we were ready to get home to Miss J and daddy.
Thursday we had quite the storm in DFW, leaving work after the storm reminded me of what it is like after a hurricane. There are reports of 75+ mph winds (not just gusts) that came through and there were trees, power lines and poles down all the way home. We were without power for about 24 hours between Thursday and Friday afternoon and the lost power again for a few hours on Saturday. Good thing was daycare, that is just down the street, had power and the kids got to go to school on Friday! In the midst of all of this Thursday night we took the kids in for their flu shots and Miss C went home and straight to bed, good thing since we couldn't do much!
We have started feeding her lunch now (a veggie), someone is a porker and growing like a weed. She also enjoyed Wagon Wheels while at Aunt Fonz's, they keep her occupied longer than puffs so we need to get some for home. Recently she has started getting really excited when she sees her bottle and is reaching and grabbing for it. While they have told us for some time that she holds her own bottle at school she hasn't much at home until this week, another sign of growing up way to fast. Oh and I think she is also saying baba (of course not mama!).
She is on the move everywhere and pulling up on everything around the house, I've caught her looking out the front window a few times already. With all the crazy this week I almost forgot that Miss C turned 8 months (and was a few days late taking her pictures).
