Week 43

This was an exhausting week to say the least! Another bout of sickness in our house and at the holiday time is no fun.

Big sisters birthday was on Tuesday and while we were at the Perot with her we got called that Miss C was running a fever...again. She has been running on/off low grade fevers the last week and I keep thinking she has an ear infection. We made an appointment later that night to get her checked out (daddy ended up sick too) and after being tested for the flu and checking her ears we were told she probably had the viral cold that is going around and it just needed to run it's course, hopefully a few days at home would help clear it out of her system.

I stayed home with the kids (and a sick husband) on Wednesday. C had a pretty good day, I was still keeping her on a medicine cycle for her symptoms but she was happy, playing and eating well. Later that night she woke up screaming (even having had Benedryl before bed) and we were up for over three hours with her, poor thing. All she wanted to do was cuddle and did not want to lay down. She finally went to bed (mommy had been up the night before with J coughing so I was minus sleep two nights in a row and daddy was sick!) in the pack-n-play in our room.

Thursday was Thanksgiving and it wasn't much of a Thanksgiving in our house. I managed to put up the tree in the midst of having sickies and J and I had turkey sandwiches. Daddy and C didn't have much of an appetite and C wasn't feeling well. She took a long nap to make up from her lack of sleep the night before. At one point in the day we realized there was goop coming out of her left ear and was still running fever. At that point I knew she had an ear infection and was looking for a pediatric urgent care to take her too, of course nothing was open, stores were open but unless I was willing to cough up $300 for an ER visit there was no where to take C to get her checked out, as J would say ridiculous! At some point I managed to get C out of her jammies and into the family 1st Thanksgiving shirt and attempted pictures with an uncooperative subject. Someone had a hard time at night going to sleep, but once she got down she was down, thank goodness!

Friday I called the pediatricians office bright and early and we took C in mid morning to get checked out. One look in her ear and there was definitely an infection there. The pressure had gotten so bad that it burst a pin size hole in her drum and it was the infection that was seeping out. The doc said that she was probably at her worst the night she was up and as soon as it burst it relived the pressure and she would start to feel better, which we had noticed. Another round of oral and ear meds for her and she would be as good as new, and we were told not to worry the hole would close, we'd just have to deal with goop for a few more days until it cleared up. In the last couple of weeks I have gotten two Target pharmacy rewards from all the meds we have filled!

The rest of the weekend was spent with some R&R at home and by Monday AM everyone had cabin fever, was feeling better (except me who was getting a sore throat) and was ready to get back to work and school!

C is pretty much using everything and anything these days to walk, just let go and you could do it! I've stared her in wearing shoes (just the soft leather ones) so that she gets used to them and also to help keep her socks on that she likes to take off! She continues to be into everything but hasn't taken interest in the Christmas tree yet, hope I didn't just jinx myself! Oh and we have another one who likes to dance!

Here are the few pics from the week.
