This week takes us back to the week of Father's Day. Sorry I'm a little behind but we were getting ready to go to Florida and had no time while we were gone to blog. I probably needed a bit of a break to get my juices flowing again, I was in a little bit of a rut when it came to blogging, the thought of stopping even crossed my mind. Don't worry, I'm not stopping. This really is a great way for our family and friends to see what we (well mostly J) are up too. It will (as long as blogger is still around) also be great to show all of this to J one day and will be of help for our first family yearbook later this year.
Back to the week. Saturday swim lessons were cancelled due to a problem with the pool. We got there, got in and then were told to get out! What a way to start our morning. Home to shower and then we ran some errands that afternoon.
Sunday was Father's Day and we had a low keyed day. We ran a few errands, the Depot being one of them. I don't think Father's Day would be complete with out a trip to Home Depot! Then we went to Northpark for lunch at La Duni, daddy was wanting their yuca fries, yum! After lunch we came home and relaxed, spent a little while out front with J in her swing and talked to our families on Facetime.
The rest of the week went by really fast. I have been super busy at work and then when we got home we were getting ready for our trip to Miami. Between taking care of J, laundry and packing, 10pm each night was here before we knew it! I got smart this time when I packed for Miami, I packed some stuff for F and I that we could leave there so that we wouldn't have to bring as much for us anymore. Why hadn't I thought of this 5 years ago when we moved? The goal is to be able to take one large suitcase for all of us. We who used to be a carry on family are now better described as the bag family as it seems that bags have multiplied in just two trips!
Thursday was here and by dinner time we were in rainy/ugly South Florida. But of course we didn't get there without a story to tell. To make a long story short, J was great the entire flight except for when we were descending. The pressure was bad, my ears were bothering me, I could only imagine how hers were, and she cried and screamed a few times for the last 15 minutes. This jerk that was sitting in the row in front of me kept turning around and giving me nasty looks. It's not like I wasn't trying to console her and was just letting her scream but she wanted nothing to do with her bottles or pacifiers so crying was all she could do to help her ears. After we landed and were deplaning a verbal altercation (that's what I'll call it) broke out between us, the jerk and the people sitting around us. A Broward Sheriffs Officer met us at baggage claim and asked what had happened since the jerk went straight to the gate agent. We told our story which he said matched what at least 25 other people had told him (in our favor) and said to us that the guy was a jerk as well. Everyone around us on the flight was extremely nice and they were all willing pretty much to kick the guys ass for us! What a way to start our trip, with a BSO case number! The guy said he had 10 kids, I'm sure if he really had kids he wouldn't have been the frigging jerk he was. My new flight philosophy is...if you can't stand listening to a crying baby buy some Bose noise cancelling ear phones or rent your own private plane!
We finally left the airport and headed to Nana and Pop Pop's house to stay the night and have some fish that Pop Pop had caught a few weeks back. There is nothing like fresh Mahi-Mahi!
J is doing well in her new room at school. She is interacting more with the other children and is on a much better schedule now (both eating and napping). We tried squash this week and she liked it! The poor child is going to turn orange as she loves sweet potatoes, squash, carrots and peaches best. Need to mix in the green where we can! She is now very much a tummy sleeper that she can roll and her butt sticks straight up in the air! All I want to do it stare at her when she sleeps, she is an angel.
